Using hydrogen peroxide?

Ok so I know I was going to get around to using h2o2 one day... Now I'm thinking it could really help my now...my seedlings are growing super slow. So I'm going to start misting them...they are ahving the hardest time getting water thru the roots....I have some 3% peroxide under the sink and was wondering would that help with the growth???I read something like 30ml per gallon...any help would be lovely

Broseph, I am a noob on the scene but I have been playing with H2O2.

I used that concentration in my regular watering for my chilli plants and a few chilli clones under fluro light that were just rooting and they really took off compared to the control sample. But I didn't foliar spray - just mixed in with the regular watering. It really perked/brightened the leaves up and seemed to accelerate growth.

I've just dropped my first ganja beans tonight with H2O2 and hope it works.

PS: You know it'll nuke any beneficial organisms tho...

Why? I mean what is your guess about H2O2? Why would that help now? You are most likely over watering and rushing. Happens to everyone.

Effects of hydrogen peroxide on the germination
and early seedling growth of barley under NaCl and
high temperature stresses
Abstract
In this work, the effects of a hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) pretreatment on the germination and
early seedling growth of barley under salt (NaCl) and temperature (20º, 25º, 30º and 35ºC)
conditions was studied. H2O2 enormously removed the germination-delaying and inhibiting
effects of temperature increases.

So if OP is overwatering, I figure a bit of peroxide might actually help? Noob logic
Not sure how you figure that. Salinity and high temperature are two important factors of environmental stress which prevent germination of seeds.

So, if you don't have RO or distilled water, you may be way too salty. My tap water is 400ppm after the de-hardening stage. Too salty for clone or seeds. So, H2O2 is suppose to help with 1) clean seed casings, before germination 2) heat and salinity protection during germination.

The increased oxygenation in the root zone was the primary reason I wanted to use the stuff... oxygen to roots = GROWTH. Overwatering usually results in stagnant water with low dissolved oxygen and its concomitant hazards.

from a study on bean germination (available at http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=51963#.VN5284dURE4)
"Under continued hypoxic [low oxygen] conditions, bean seeds failed to germinate, however, this was reversed in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (20 mM) in the medium. Furthermore, imbibition of seeds in the presence of hydrogen peroxide overcame the adverse hypoxic effects on hypocotyl elongation and stem growth. Exogenous hydrogen peroxide increased the dissolved oxygen levels in the germinating medium"

On top of this is the sterilising action you mentioned by rapid oxidation. Of course too much and you can rapidly toast your plant. Used sensibly the H2O2 breaks down into H20 + Oxygen so is harmless. On the flip side I do find that the formulation I have (Oxyplus 50%) does affect my pH titration significantly - native H2O2 is very very acidic - but its actually harder to pH down my nutrient mix after I add it.

I have never heard of the salt tolerance thing until now, but it checks out - plenty of googlable research on rice and other salt sensitive crops supports this.

useing h202 i get new nodes every 1-2 days. The 2 in pots do not get treated. Yes one is dro and the other is soil but the difference is true.

Well I believed the we're doing bad. But as I compared them they look like they are on track....and yes I do think I was over watering....I germed another bean last night in a glass with a bit of h2o2 and I topped in 6 hours....the first pic is a afghani about 1 1/2 weeks and the other 2 will be a week this SundaySunday

Was your afghani a freebie from herbie .mines is and the thing really grows....I just hope it not a male...I would love to put her under my 400 or 600 hps ...I just can't risk it right now...got keep the bills down lol

Bad idea, in fact bordering on dumb.
Peroxide will kill the plants if sprayed on, it is only used in a res for pathogen control.
Yeah I get the 3% and when I due a rez change for 4 gallons I use about 40ML. Then every couple days or so I will add smaller amounts.

Sounds about right. If your doing a larger grow you will need the 35% grade 750:1 or 50% 1000:1 every 4 days.

But really can you back this up....don't say something is dum when there are shit load of people who use it.....spray or res your still using it.... And I'm using 3% which is again being cut with water....

Thanks for the vid .....only thing is that I wasn't going to ever use it straight....I used 3% in with water....I may have used 10ml in 33 oz spray bottle I'm not seeing any ill effects...at least not yet lol but seeing this vid I will just use water...

Mine are from herbie too but im also using purple max... If you look closely you can see the purple, im hoping it not a deficiency of some type,
