First post, First grow-op.
I have been given a brand new 6 lamp, 4' long T5 fixture (lamps are 54W ea).
I see from other posts that people are overall please with them. My question is can I use this for growing through the flowering stage?
Thanks,

5000K is usually a fully spectrum bulb. Not ideal for veg or flowering, but still useful. Look for bulbs with a spectrum of about 2700 K (for flowering, but I recommend you set your system up so that you have either 1/3rd or 1/4th of all your bulbs total in this spectrum because it'll provide your plant with helpful spectrum rays) and 6500 K (for veg, I'd recommend the same for these bulbs in flowering).

I'm using 2 of the New Wave 2 ft. 4 bulb lights. 8 bulbs @ 23 watts with 4 of the 3000K and 4 of the 6500K lights throughout veg and flower. 16,000 lumens total.

I retired my 400 watt HPS/MH conversion because I burned my plants to a crisp. Heat is my enemy. Heat hasn't been a problem at all with the T5's. The yield may be lower than that of an HID grow, but a complete, low yield crop is better than a crispy one.

Good luck.

Here are a couple pics of my girls, Dutch Dragon and Strawberry Cough. They are from seed and about 3 and half weeks into flower.

HPS can burn T5's are the best for cloning and vegging because they dont get hot u can put them up to 2 inches away from the plants..

i know man but damn cmon.
$200 is a lil over board.

especially for fluorescents
im better off just buying CFL's or maybe 2 x 2' t8's.
then ill have 4 bulbs. but a hell of alot cheaper :]
