UV hydro sterilization

Anyone use UV to keep their reservoir sterile? Wondering if it will break down media, or if you can run it every time you top off. Would eliminate scrub and steri with chemicals.

5.5 GPM so has to match pump size and flow rate to work effectively.

It will only kill freefloating bacteria, so anything that sticks to the roots, or on the side of rez or chamber where roots grow will continue to grow. This might work in a pond where fish eat the algae, but not for a grow chamber.
