UVB supplementation for 33% more THC. Will this work?

I was reading that “ In University of Maryland studies of indoor-grown cannabis, sativa with no UVB compared to plants provided with equatorial sun levels of 385 nm UVB had a 33 percent increase in THC levels.”. Further reading on several sites has me convinced that I should be adding UVB to my grow for the last 4 weeks of flowering to increase the number of trichomes. With that said, I’m clueless. This unit seems like a great deal ...can anyone comment on the spectrum or brand?

I’m supplementing a 1000watt HPS in a 5x5.

Can anyone comment on the brand or spectrum? It’s only 24 watts too....is that really sufficient?

I don't like that they don't specify which bulb they include. And it seems overpriced. Just get a t5 fixture and a pureUV bulb and you have the best available uv suppliment, know what you got, and save 20%. A powerveg or reptile 10.0 bulb would work as a second choice if you can't find the pureUV or don't want full blast UV intensity. They are about a quarter the strength of the pureUV.

It works afaik: youu ccan even smell the tent more when the uvb kicks in.

But its very finnicky to get right, some plants might like it, some might get very damagged depending on strain and where the geneticcs come from, distance to the uv and intensity etc...

But uvb is not 385nm its 280 and can get reallyy dangerous. Uvb iis almost missing from normal sun at sealevel

If youre interested in thiis you should follow @nachooo he runs various types of uv in sepearate settings

Thanks for the answer Rocket. I just found a UV thread with Nachooo. I’ll find that and follow him. I did end up buying two California solarworks UV lights that run at 280nm. Excited to see the difference.

Be carefull with looking at them directly and generally just turn them off when your in your grow. Cant remember who but they had a little sparkly/blind spot in their viision for several days after lookiing too long.

Thanks again! Yes, I plan to kill the UV lights when the tent is open. Definitely don’t want to mess with my eyes or risk skin cancer.

Hmm, maybe I need to get one of those. I’m always looking to up my game. I am currently running about 1000 watts of COB and boards in a 3x7 area.

If you do...I used a coupon code “FB15” for 15 percent off and it’s also free freight. 85 bucks delivered..for up to 33 percent more trichomes seems like a deal to me. Haha.

I ended up buying two for a 5 x 5.

That sounds like a deal. I'm very interested to see how they do for you.
Do you have anything to share - for example I'm interested in that bulb that send with it as well. You said you measured it right? 22". I wonder if agromax t5 fit in it. Either way, I guess one could do what @DonnyTinyHands suggested too.

Seems like a deal. They charge 59 for a replacement bulb and the fixture with bulb is 85.

Here’s one more good conversation about UVB and it includes several links to articles in the first post.

Just be aware that too much UV will burn your plants. I learned this the hard way lol.
