Veg question (wattage)

Getting RIU'ers

I have a 4x4 tent with an air cooled hood and want to know your suggestions as to what Wattage I should one run and WHY...

400w 600w 1000w

Also I'm running HPS in both veg and flower period this time.

Get yourself a 1000w dimming system and run it on lowest setting during veg no need to waste more energy then slowly ramp it up starting in flower and max about 2 weeks into flower. If your tent gets too hot you always have the ability to turn it back down. Make sure u get an air cooled hood.

Thanks motoracer110 .. I actually have 2 dimmable ballasts 2 aircooled hoods and 2 inline fans (as backups) I don't mind spending the extra money I'm wondering what the benefits of running at full power (1000w) during veg would be vs running at lowest (400w)

Not much benefit running full power during veg, for this reason some people even buy and use t5 lighting during veg and saving them in the power bill. My lowest setting is 600watt so I use that during veg with amazing results. If you use the full 1000w your plants would stay more compact and less vertical growth. I scrog my grows in a net so a little stretch is awesome for me

More light is always better science has proved that. My Temps are mid 70s @ 1000w..
