Veg Room.... Lighting

Hi all.. Just wanting to change the lighting in my veg room I currently use a 400watt HPS with a veg-agro bulb 18 hours on 6 off..
And Im also running a 400watt HPS in my flowering room.. My power bill is stupid!
I am a very heavy gamer also.....
I am thinking about replacing my 400watt HPS in my veg room for
2x 4ft fluorescents have been looking at these ones....

Are they any good?
I only want them for my veg room 2 of them will cost under half of what it costs for me to run this 400 watt in the veg room at the moment
I am not the smartest when it comes to lighting so can someone fill me in lol

i dont understand, why dont you just switch to a lower wattage hps or MH instead of the flouro. Flouro dont give you as much light penetration as your HID light plus is it 2 4ft flouros with 4 tubes or 2 tubes?

Get some LED's, they use less heat, energy, and are really effective if you get from the right place. little more of an investment, but fluorescents are garbage, and honestly just sloppy growing.

if it was me i would use a 250 MH for veg...... but i dont see how your grow room is makin you power bill so intense,, cuz i use a 400 HPS for veg and flowering and my bill isnt very high at all.. but im not a big video gamer or anything... cuz your gaming system or your computer using more wattage then a 400watt grow light

are 125w cfls very good for veg?

a 250w hps with a veg-agro bulb? i seen the guy on i grow chronic with 2x 4ft fluros and thought it might be a good idea because they dont cost much to run and they cover a decent area.. i dont have any fluro yet was just considering it

For 2-3 plants they are perfect

I use 100 watt induction for my clone and veg and have been using the 3 of the 400 watt inda-gro for flowering and bud having replaced 4 of the 1000 watt hps for that. the nice thing about the induction is I've not had the spider mites now for over a year because the lights burn so much cooler. good luck

im completely in love with my 216W t-5 setup. i had a 400w mh but all the plants grew different heights, wtf, i know, but it forced me to use the 4' 4 bulb setup i bought cause i was realllllllyyyyy high in the store lol. oh my god. the whole light penetration is true, but most of us trim the bottoms off anyway, i hate popcorn buds, or lst it and its awsome. think about this: that mh bulb i had to keep at least a foot off and was still showing slight signs of bleaching. if your light usage is divided in half every foot (sun systems website), then that 400w is really 200w worth of light. the t-5 i have 2" off, the growth jumped, leaves shot up and everytime i water the plants grow a few inches. i trim off all stems that look small and wont burst out when flowering, thus where the light does hit, its hitting the stems i left eventually creating another cola-not a main cola, but about 7g buds(dried). as far as veg goes-we normally dont veg indoors more than 2 feet or we end up with plants over 4 foot. the light penetrates just fine. also, your cost will drop sssoooooo much more than you think. my temps went from 90+ with 4 large fans on the plants and one on the bulb to 78 (my a/c is set to 75) with 2 small fans, none on the bulbs. so not only are you saving with the light wattage, but with fans and cooling expense. i dont have to have a diffuser, i can take pics without having blue lines, i can arrange the plants according to size to maximize the light to each plant and tilting the light. also with my trimming method i currently have 19 stems that will produce large colas with 5 plants.

for $3000 why not? not everyone has mommy and daddy to give them money

Im a pretty heavy gamer too, but something is up for your light bill to be up there...? Im on xbox live probably 10 hours a day and run my 400 watt HPS for 20hours a day(autos) and Its only costing me about $30 monthly to power my full grow room(400HPS(20hrs a day) and Air pump, Water pumps, fans, and exhuasts(all on 24/7)) I also put Energy Saver CFL's in all my sockets throughout the house, clean my AC filter bi-weekly, turned down the hot water heaters, No Heated Wash for laundry and No heated Dry for dishes. Also, turn everything your not using off, thats where i slip the most..

I would stick with your HPS and use the money that u was gonna buy floros with, to buy Energy Savers for your house, it'll save u in the long run..

I do live in New Zealand.. Your currency is probably a hell of alot more then ours depending on where you live lol..
I have 3 choices for my veg room

1x 250w hps with a veg-agro bulb
2x 125w cfls
or 2x twin bulb fluros

I dont know which to pick.. I guess ill go for the one that will cover a larger space.. It looks like the fluros will but I havent had too much good feed back about them

@goodolboy im running 2x 400 watt lights not one.. I have one with a veg-agro bulb in my veg room and one with a lucas bulb in my flowering room

ck out the inda-gro induction grow lights. I veg and clone under the 100's. flower and bud under the 400's. so much cooler to run and my electric bill has dropped over 1/2.
