I'M fixing to buy this light, its the best 600watt MH bulb i have found so far with the highest lumen output per watt. I want to ask you guys if you would recommend vegging with the MH instead of the HPS, cause id like to try out the MH bulb for vegging intead of using a HPS to veg and flower? what are some of your opinions?

The light system im using is the 600watt MH&HPS conversion Digital ballast.

this link shows the bulb im talking aboutfor the 600 watt system

Hey guys I'm new to the forum, pup I've been looking at your auto grows, they came out great!
I wanted to ask, anyone here know the scoop on growing with LED's ?

I've read somewhere that you can get interesting results when MH is used on the last one/two weeks before harvesting the bud.

dont be a fucking idiot.. led sucks ass cfl is better than led and hid better than cfl

Actually that is not accurate, at least you would have a damn difficult time convincing NASA that you are correct. NASA has had tremendous success growing (not pot) using LED’s.

The thing is most growers who try to use LED’s will purchase lower priced ones and they are always inferior and even some of the higher priced ones are inferior so it partially comes down to knowing what is high quality and what is not.

Next, because of the price of any LED’s, quality or inferior ones, being as high as they are most growers to not purchase enough of them and then since so few people have used them few know how to use them optimally.

A few years back on a now defunct herb growing site I followed a thread from seedling stage to harvest that was 100% LED and I still think the plants were the thickest most lush heaviest producing and more evenly producing ones I have seen from an indoor grow.

The guy claimed to have come into a goodly amount of money and scrapped his HID lighting and went 100% LED. HE had large panels hanging just over the tops of his plants. He built what I call portable posts, 4 X 4’s with a square plywood bottom for balance and he attached LED light panels to one side of each 4 X 4 and ringed his plants with them. He also had more portable posts with LED bars on all four sides and placed them between his plants.

The nodal spacing was extremely close, the branches were stacked like playing cards. The bud production was the most even and consistent from top to bottom I have ever seen. Great colas but as you went down the plants the buds did not shrink much in size, hardly in fact, and they remained thick and heavy and dense. There was no fluff or popcorn on the plants. His production/yield was fantastic.

Additional bonuses were he did not have heat to deal with. He turned off most of his ventilation without any problems and had a decrease in room temperatures. He did not have to run his home A/C at as cold of a temperature to augment his grow room cooling and of course his heat signature dropped to nothing.

He researched and then purchases the highest quality LED’s he could find and he purchased a TON of them and he found the best way to use them and the results outshone anything I have seen that was done indoors. He did everything correct that most who attempt to grow with LED do incorrectly.

So LED’s work and work fantastic IF you know and can find the highest quality LED’s, of course can afford them and afford them in sufficient quantities and if you know how to use them. If not like most who attempt to use them at best you will say they are a good source for helpful low-heat additional lighting to at worst, and incorrectly, claiming they suck and that CFL’s are better.

IF the price of the newest highest tech LED technology drops in the future, near future possibly, they will put all other forms of grow lights out of business. I read an article about a scientist that works on designing and improving LED technology and he built an LED light that was roughly the size of a standard/average handheld mirror like women use to check out the back of their hair and it put out roughly an equal amount of light to a spotlight. I do not mean like one you plug into your car’s cigarette lighter but instead a real spotlight. I do not remember the figures on it and at the time it was only a white light and not plant growth/flowering spectrums of light but that part would not be a problem to alter. The problem is it is so expensive to make presently that no business would consider to manufacture it because unless someone was like Bill Gates or something they could not afford them. But one LED like that, in the proper light spectrums, would make a 1000-watt HID light look like a fizzling sputtering damp match in comparison when it comes to output.

I have no idea if a price drop in the technology will occur in one year or five years or in fifty years but if and when it does if any of you hold stock in either HID or CFL manufacturing stocks sell them off fast or be prepared to lose all you have invested in whatever corporation it is because growers, and people in general, will go to greater lengths to avoid other types of lighting than they go to, to avoid herpes.
