k so i have a small sectioned off part of my closet and i was wondering. is it more important to have old air going out or new air coming in?

Thats a contradicting question there... unless this is in a vacuum tube then regardless what is happening ... if old air is leaveing then new air must replace it.....or new air will come in which replaces the old air and forces it out

EDIT: BTW that plant looks nice

Wrong it's a completely valid question and there is a very large difference. You want to suck old air out of the top of the grow space and have a passive intake at the bottom so you have negative pressure in your grow and proper airflow.

The other way around works horribly. You can't effectively shove air out a passive exhaust hole from an active intake nearly as well as you can suck it out an active exhaust.

your partially right on that...It is best to suck the air out at the top and have your intake at the bottom... the air will be replaced regardless which way you have it set up.. its simply physics.. it doesnt mean its best.. but its science and nobody can defy the law of physics

EDIT: if you have old air going out.. then arent you having new air come in.. and if you are having new air come in then arent you hvaing old air leave???... Unless you are using a vacumn tube which is most unlikely then my reasoning is right

Negative pressure vs positive pressure
It's physics but I wouldn't call it simple because you aren't the only one that doesn't get it, few do until they are constantly running too hot.

You would think air in, air out, what is the difference...

Huge.

Same applies to any ductwork. Always easier to draw air out than shove it through and that effect is magnified by having a big room to shove through acting like a buffer. The intake would just move less air in if it were active and less air out.

It's an easy experiment you can do next time you're setting up a box or a room. Do both and see the max temperture both ways reach after a few hours have passed.

Oh forgot to add, plants respond to negative pressure better than positive as well. They actually grow just a little faster.

im goin with a exit vent at the top and inlet vents at the bottom with my fans goin in the room.
Thats a good idea... I have a regular house vent running right above my closet so I am considering drilling out a hole and riging up my exit vent to the house vent... and then just allowing natural air flow to flow under the crack in the door.

since i have such a small grow going i figured maybe i could get by with just airflow but at the same time alot of heat in a small area... but i do have an atic right above my room... i was thinking of drilling up into that and getting some ducting up there... but that would be a much later proccess... thanks alot guys
