very little roots falling over

hey guys, im having a couple of problems. my babies are 16 days old from seed. they are from 5 to 8 inches tall. i watered them today, and i checked for roots and the tallest one was not even halfway down with roots. they are in beer cups by the way. one of them fell over when i watered. theyre under 42 watt cfl. i thought id be able to trans. to my tent and 600 w. but aparently theyre slow as hell. im getting worried. please any help from people who have started from seed and experienced people. thanks in advance. oh yea they are in sunshine mix 4 which is a soilles mix.

I would go ahead and transplant them but bury them up the stem a ways, this is okay to do and it will give it some support. The reason they are weak and falling over is probably because the light is not close enough, a 42 watt CFL is a good CFL so it should do some good to that plant but you should have it within 1 inch of the plant. This is what I do and it works amazing and it won't burn the plant unless it is actually touching it. Good luck and tell me how it works.

What does "not even halfway down with roots" mean? I can't understand the problem.

when i took the plant out off the cup to check, only half the dirt came out with the plant. the other half stayed in the cup. no roots visible, yet its a 6 inch plant. hopefully this helps.

Read what I said above and that should be all you need to know to get that plant back on track.^

thank you so much for answering and helping. god will bless you. im scared to trans. causetheyre week and i dont want more shock assuming they had any. i do think ill move them into the tent asap, under the 600 w. how worried would you be. worst possible outcome? again thanks so much.

Don't worry about transplanting them, the worst case scenario is that they will go into slight shock and delay growing for up to a couple days. But if you transplant correctly, then it will show little to no shock. To transplant correctly, just water the soil around the little plant so the soil sticks together and turn the cup upside down so all of the soil comes out and put it into the new pot (you should first dig a hole in the new pot about the size of the cup). Then take extra soil and bury up the stem a little bit. If you do it right it will be like you didn't even move the roots so the plant wouldn't even know it was transplanted.

by the way the soilless mix has no nutes included. when do you think i should start feeding. only thing ive given them is jumpstart from AN.

I would wait until they get atleast three nodes and then start with some organics because with organics it is hard to burn plants. If you use organics I recommend blood meal for veg. and bone meal & molasses for flowering, organics add to the taste of your buds and grows big healthy plants. If you are going to use chemical fertilizers then it is fine just start out with about 1/4 strength and work your way up.

im using the advanced nutrients line. ive used it before with great success. only it was from clones when i lived in vancouver. the whole starting from seed has me nervous. but i do know its a resiliant plant. so you really got to fuck it up for it to die. im just aiming for irrealistic perfection, but hey aim for the stars right.

That is fine to use, just go by what I said above and it should work out fine for you. If you start out at 1/4 you should have no problem with burning and 3 nodes should be plenty big enough to start with your nutes.

i just saw the dvd i have and no problem. he trans. the plant, and it was about 1 and half ft. and it was in the same cups i have them in. thanks for the help. ill remember you for future inquires. good luck with you and yours.
