Vic's version vs. Sub's super soil

I am debating this, seeing as how I am just making for one batch. So, heres the question. I can either make subs supersoil concentrate and mellow it out, or I can make a hybrid of Sub and Vics methods to make my opinion of what would be a great balance of the two

If sub reds this lemme know what you think but I know that you don't want to advise me this is good or bad because you have not tried it. That's alright man :) Anyways if it seems a little cool or hot to the sounds let me know and please I wont hold you to it!!! :blsmoke:

Well, I bought two big compressed bales of promix BX. That should fill nine 7 gallon pots and leave room for some amendments. I plan to add:
30 pounds of earthworm castings
2.2 pounds of peruvian seabird quano (10-10-2 nice and balanced no bat quano in this recipe)
4 pounds bone meal
4 pounds blood meal
2 pounds rock phosphate
5 pounds kelp meal
5 pounds Green sand (I am resusing the soil, so I am hoping to see the micro organisms break it down good. There should be a lot as well with the kelp meal added)
Hope all works out well, and I will keep you all updated to let you know weather I fail or not! I am interested in this seabird quano as well!!!

The only thing I notice is your replaceing the bloom fert (bat guano) with veg ferts (seabird guano). Your mix may be fine like this. I'm not sure. Worste case senario imo is you run out of fert. late in bloom and have to top dress with some high p bat guano or the same in a tea. Just watch for this and you should be ok. I think. :)

I started with Vics recipe some 15 years ago and my recipe is the outcome of those 15 years.
I am growing the best pot of my life IMO and that seems to be the general consensus of those I gift to as well :)
Add to this thousands of people use my recipe and swear by it both dirt heads and converted water boys
My soil however ties to a method and I would make sure you understand using a consentrate first.

AutumFall.... I've been growing since 78, done chem / hydro, chem / dirt, then for the last 12 years organic soil only. I used Sub's Super Soil receipe last year, on a small portion of my outdoor garden and really liked it. This year, I used it on most of my outdoor garden.
.
I feel no need to reinvent the wheel. His mix is properly tuned for Mary and gets great results. If I were you, I'd stick with a tried & true mix. Read his thread on the Super Soil, use it like he tells you to, and great results are a given.
.
Hope this helps...
Keep it Real...Organic.... cause chemicals are for cleaning your toilet.....

I always grow organic anyways guys thanks for lookin out LOL!

Anyways, sub your the man. I will completely RE do my mix just because of you ans mrshemi.

Wanna hear something funny was it made me sigh in relief wen she told me "Don't stray from his mix at all, EVER" not in those exact words but still.

I appreciate you taking the time to wake me up. And now, this harvest will really be MUCH better because of you.

Now if only I could find your current lineup on the final draft of your mix?? I saw it change before in the thread so I am going to try to stick to how you swear by it now.

Edit: if these words did not make since, I blame it on brother's grimm and his creation of ice princess...

:peace:Hello I am new to this thread and would like to begin by extending a good morning to all those who are in the RIU communtiy. I am new grower (one harvest under my belt) I switched to an organic grow because of a dissapointing return with my last one. I was introduced to your method by a fellow grower who came across it in a HT issue and believed this would be a path form me to pursue. I have made the following mix inspired by SubCool's method. I would appreciate it if after assesing it you could let me know if it is a mix that will be favorable or if quantites are off to a point they'll harm my crop thank you in advance. :peace:

here is the mix
ABOUT a cup and a 1/2 of azomite
2 cups of epsom salt
5 pounds of blood meal
2 pounds of worm poop
20 pounds of soil from a special grower that has 1/3 portion of worm poop already

Thanks for the quick response. Now are you using that much soil with the same amounts of ingredients you have here
4 bags roots soil
4 bags Biobiz light soil
1-25-50 pounds of Organic Worm castings
5# Steamed Bone meal
5# Bloom bat Guano
5# Blood meal
¾ cup Epson salts
1 cup Sweet Lime ( Dolimite)
½ Cup Azomite ( Trace Elements)
2- TBS Powdered Humic Acid
or do you add more of each? in the high times piece it says you use 20 pounds of base soil.If I am confused I appreciate the clarification of this. The bat guano and humic acid are the only two things I don't have from your mix if there were a choice between the two which one can I not afford to go with out? A fellow grower of mine donated azomite to me and insisted I add 2 tsps to a gallon of purified water. I have and have been watering with this mix every other watering. Is this too much use of it or is it safe to use in this fashion? My intial thoughts are that it has yet to be a harmfull presence in my garden but I would appreciate some forcasting on this if you can. Thanks in advance :peace:

I noticed on another forum(maybe this one) you were using 3#Rock phosphate. Is this still the case or were you not happy with the Rock phosphate? Also I have the ability to get some powdered Fulvic acid and was wondering your thoughts on this as I was kinda planning on using 2-TBS of that as well.

Thanks,

Jipc

I get questions like that often " What if I use this or that or substitute this?
I have no clue as this recipe was developed slowly over a decade and almost 60 successful indoor harvest when I make changes I do so slowly

So I ain't smart enough to speak on deviations form the game plan

Sub I am happy you made these mistakes for us to tell us the final outcome. I will not substitute, because none of us will know. I however had rock phosphate and I wonder, might as well use it right? Once again, not quoting you at all but one time you did put it in and the weed should have still been great ;)

I'm thinking use it anyways because as long as I dont burn em, I will be getting my moneys worth (or at leastin my head)

But it is it a bad idea and I shouldnt use it, please let me know. That is my only question.

You have been very helpful. Thanks man

Sub . . you say to use 4 bags roots soil
4 bags Biobiz light soil. Are there volume quantities for these 4 bags of each because I know Roots makes different volume bags (1.5 cuft, 2 cuft, etc). Thx

The reason I asked was because I cant get roots so I needed to know the quantities, like you put on everything else, except the 4 bags of the soils. Thx for the input. I used your recipe on my 2009 grow with exceptional results in both my MJ garden but my veggies also. Thx again for the clarification and the years that went into it.
