warm vs sunshine fluorescent

In Mr. Green's out to grow videos he recommends 1 cool and 1 warm fluorescent bulb. Why would a warm bulb with 2800 lumens and 3000 kelvin be better than a sunshine bulb that has a full spectrum with 2700 lumens and 5000 kelvin ? I bought both the cool & warm but it seems to me the sunshine would be better. Can someone offer some expert-tees on this??

the plants are used to more red light, which the warm bulbs produce, during flowering. its due to the fact that sunlight is more red in the fall due to refraction in the atmosphere. so that is what the plant has evolved to expect. in my experiences the plants will love warm bulbs in veg too. i agree with mr green with this caveat. in veg i would use mostly daylight bulbs with maybe 25% warm bulbs. in veg i would reverse the ratio, and go with 75-100% warm bulbs and 0-25% daylight bulbs.

Thanks for the info, that makes a lot of sense. But at the end did you mean to say at the flower ? Both times you said at the veg. lol Ok , i see what ya mean about warm bulbs. As i was at Lows i noticed the daylight bulbs were called cool white bulbs, the bath&kitchen bulbs were called warm, then i noticed they also had 3 other tubes. A sunshine tube thats called full spectrum, a residential tube , and a office tube. I bought the kitchen&bath tube and the daylight which i assumed were warm and cool. Can you tell me what makes the cool tube better than the sunshine, residential, or office tubes?

By the way, i have a MH light on a stand that i sometimes use at work. Would it be better to add this light with my fluorescent lights or is that over kill?

the MH is considered a "cool" bulb. blast the plants with that and supplement it with warm bulbs.

Ok, got ya. Today i was at Lowe's again and i get confused with all those fluorescent tubes they have. I seen several yesterday and today i found another that is for { Plant & Aquarium } it says it has lots of red and blue light for flowering. Is that about like a warm tube?

i think the aquarium bulb is similar to the daylight bulbs, its probably about 5000-6000K

for vegging best kelvin is 6500(daylight or bright white), for flowering best kelvin is 2700(warm white).
definitely throw that Metal halide in there, will explode the vegg. HPS will explode the buds.
you can mix and match, the MH helps stretch and fast growth, HPS helps dense compact growth.
