ok i just found out how to stop the interference that digital ballasts and electronic ballasts cause that could get you busted QUICK. if you havent heard about this problem then refer to this thread >>> https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/497790-warning-digital-electronic-ballasts-can.html first let me tell you guys what i did. I live in a trailer wrapped in tin, i went into my growroom and i hooked up a radio about 9 ft from where my digital ballist is, i unplugged my ballast and i turned on the radio to the best AM channel i could find that was clear, i plugged in my ballast and listened closely and i could hear my ballast powering up through the speakers and i heard the interruption very clearly. so after realizing that my ballast causes radio interference i went to the outside of my tin trailer and hooked up my radio again. this time the radio was positioned about 6 ft from the ballast but was shielded by a tin wall. i did the test over again and heard no interference, i tried it multiple times on different channels and never heard any interference. so i by doing this have found a solution to all of our problems and tin is a very effective solution. if you dont live in a tin building that is a shield then just simply get some tin sheeting a build a box around your ballast and your problem should be solved. Also as a precautionary measure ill be building a tin box for my ballast and ill even post a DIY for you guys in the DIY section when i do it in a couple days. I really hope this helps you guys out and grow safely.

Thks MR. Faraday.Remote hid ballasts can be put in pc cases with the case grounded and vented.I use floros for ultimate stealth.

thats a good idea but make sure the case is made of tin and not a plastic pvc material with a super thin micro coating. tin is super super cheap and very easily bent / snipped to make a box as well

an easier solution is to not be a cheap ass person buying the lowest priced ballast you can find on ebay or amazon and instead go with a quality ballast that does not cause RF interference.

Besides shielding, remember the "inverse square law". Double the distance, quarter the power.

If your grow is in the basement...even better, the foundation and earth further reduce any detectable emissions.

If your ballast isn't shielded and grounded, get a new ballast. An ungrounded ballast is a fire hazard.

gtfo asshole some people arent made of money like i already told you, until you start spending your money on our shit we will continue to find our own solutions to our own problems, im just trying to come here and help people that may be misenformed and may not have the money to go spend on a high priced ballast, is that a problem motherfucker? why you talking shit to someone thats trying to help the community. fuckin bitchboy

You're not saving a smart shopper much money if any at all. You're advising people to buy cheap and unreliable products, then hope they work and if they don't maybe they can rig something together and hope that it'll make things okay. Then they have to sit there hoping that the rig they put together actually holds up. Why not just start with something reliable? Why do people have to buy a high priced ballast? Where did I say that they have to buy a high priced ballast or spend a ton of money?

if someone already has a ballast that causes intermissions im showing them a way that they can solve their issue temporarily until they can come up with the money for a good one withought having to be paranoid about getting busted and ruining their entire grow over it. now do you understand what im trying to do here? is it all making sence to you now? i could send you a postcard if you like. maybe call you on the phone and spell it out for you or even make a video of me saying it if the visual stimulation is what you understand. idk what else to say besides im trying to help not to hurt. read the post man

How are you going to whine about people talking shit to you when you reply to a post like this?

You're not helping. You're covering things that have already been discussed but you're acting like you discovered something new. You're bumping old threads acting like you made a new discovery even though it's already been discussed in that thread, you just decided not to read the thread before posting in it. Then you start a new thread discussing the same old shit. And that advice is to use shitty equipment and rig it to make it work. Then you're talking shit to anyone and everyone who comes along. How the fuck are you helping?

the electromagnetic interference that you're talking about is local.

it doesn't broadcast to the stars... it fucks with the electrical components around the ballast sometimes

i had computer troubles with a digital ballast nearby

but dude... every piece of high wattage machinery in a metal case gives off electromagnetic interference

have you tried to listen to a radio near a running microwave?

stop getting people worked up and wanting to put their ballasts inside computer cases

Sorry, big time lurker here so I apologise for my first post being so ... inconsequential? Uninvited? Unproductive? Whatever.

I just find it hilarious that you post ridiculously antagonistic and unwarranted flames like this above a signature that states: 'be the change you wish to see in the world.'
