Watching for amber

hey guys,
this is my first grow and the buds are really getting ripe. I'd say 98% of the trichs are cloudy, but no amber. How quickly do they turn amber once it starts? I guess what im asking is how wide is my window of opportunity for a perfectly timed harvest? Also, what are acceptable percentages of milky and amber trichs? can i harvest with 5% amber and 95% milky for a real head high, or should i wait for more amber?

sorry if this doesnt make sense i just snipped two real tiny popcorn buds off the bottom of my plant and holy crap i havent been this stoned in a while, im so excited to harvest

thanks

Yes, if you harvest now it will be more speedy. You should shove the scope in the middle of a big bud to really see. If you have no amber trichs my guess that under the surface they are still clear.

Pistils will originally form at the nodes yes.. But once the plant actually starts budding they will form throughout the buds..

and yes, it is also a way to sex your plants. Females have pistils.. but so do hermies..

i bought a scope 30x,and watched the trichs go from clear to cloudy
to still cloudy to still cloudy yet, till like week 9 and a half,
finally i chopped them and they kicked ass.

point being theyre done when they really look done.

i dont eaven use my scope anymore, want it

i knew that information smokingbot. my real question was how long does it take from when the first trichrome changes to amber until they all are, so basically how big is the window for a proper harvest? 1 week? 3 weeks?

Sorry only god could tell you that info. Let me know if you find him.. Depends on the plant and probably many, many other variables..

Just check every day, you know you already are anyways.. Who doesn't

A lot of growers go by the old saying when you think it is time to harvest, wait a week. Has worked for me! Many of us in our hast want to harvest to early. It is so tempting watching and smelling then dreaming of the high we trick ouselves into believing it is "soup" lol.
