water curing then air curing

I recently harvested an impressive lemon skunk apon trying it i was dismayed to find out that even after flushing for a 10 day period you culd still taste nutrient, i think i may have over feed and it had a build up.

So to counteract this i decided to water cure i am a day into this process and the bud is already smelling alot better and i have dumped out a large quantity of brown water.
My question is do you think as i did flush the plant the nutrient build up was only slight and should get washed away quickly so i could then remove the buds and air dry and cure them so as to retain as much flavour and smell as possible? Because the bud i tasted only had a slight after taste...

Has anyone else water cured for say only 3 days then hung and dried buds as normal? Did it counteract that unflushed taste while preserving some of the smell and flavour? i personally am a smoker who enjoys smoking especially because of the smell and taste.

i dont want to fuck it up and end up with an awful taste or a rotten mess.

Any help for a newb thats struggled this far alone would be appreciated.
