Watering Questions

Hey everyone I was wondering how much to water my plants in their new 3 gallon pots. my plants are all 60 days old from germination I transplanted them 2 days ago from 1 gallon containers and when I was watering them during their time in 1 gallon pots I was giving them 2 cups of water/nutrient mix every other day. The day after I transplanted I figured I would double their water from 2 cups to 1 quart but after I fed them it seemed like they could take more, is 1quart enough or to much? Any advice would be awesome

What you need to do is:

1. Wait for the top 1-2 inches of your soil to dry.
2. Once the the top 1-2 inces of your soil is dry, pick up the pot to see what it weighs to get the "Dry weight of the pot".
3. Mix up your nutrient solution.
4. Water the plant/pot untill you get some run off (about 1/10 of the water amount you've poured into the pot).
- Sometimes you might get runoff right away because sides of the pot are dry, just slow down pouring the water to let it soke up more.
5. Pick up the pot again once you've watered it enough to get the "Watered weight of the pot".
6. Start at step 1(you can skip touching the soil by picking up the pot to see if it's dropped down to the "dry weight".

Too early to tell sex
yeah im getting impatient i wanna see what tbey are lol. And as for the watering i was getting pretty good at being able to tell when to water when they were in 1 gallon pots, but these 3 gallon ones are gonna take some time to get used to. Also im using foxfarm ocean forest soil is that okay as far as moisture control goes?

I've never used FoxFarm producs but from what I've read they seem like a good all around soild with good water retention and drainage. Just stick to my watering guide and you should be fine.

If I was you I wouldn't let your plants grow too much anymore before changing the light schedule to 12/12, unless you plan on transplanting yet another time. Your plants will grow about 1/3 more within the first 3 weeks of the light change and if you keep vegging your plants longer you'll run into root problems. Also you won't be able to tell sex untill you switch the light cycle.

did u mix any perlite or maybe some vermiculite into the ocean forrest soil, It was a while ago when I last bought FFOF but I'm pretty sure I needed to mix some perlite in there to help with drainage.

I am using fox farm and getting great results.

As for watering, I use the weight method. When I transplant the plant, and the soil is dry, I pick it up and get an idea of what the dry weight is. Then I water the plant in its new soil. Next, when it is about 3-5 days, the branches will start to come down a bit. I will check the pot and feel for the same dry weight. You can tell if it needs water. Then I water it as for normal.

You can kill the plant easier with overwatering than not enough water. You can see underwatering as well, browning leaves, droopy branches and what not. Overwatering seems to be hard to see.
