Watering with CO2

If you watered a plant with carbonated water (non-sweetened of course) would the roots absorb the CO2?
If you were doing a hydroponic (or one of its variants) type grow could you add carbonated water to the water they are growing in to aid in CO2 absorbtion?
I read that the top 30 per cent of the roots are happy to be exposed to the air in an aeroponics setup so that's where my reasoning for this comes from.
Any thoughts on this please?
