watering

I'm starting a few plants in small pots (half gallon) and was wondering about watering and feeding.
They're 3 weeks old...I plan on transplanting to very large pots in 2 weeks....just as a guide..how often would you water them?

It's highly variable depending on the RH, lights, how fast they grow, nutrient levels, ...

The best guide is to go either by feel near the surface, or to go by the weight of the pot. Get a feel for the weight of the pot when dry vs after watering. The difference should be dramatic, you should be able to judge how dry they are by weight after you get yourself calibrated by feeling wet vs dry weight. Let them get fairly dry/light-weight before watering until some water comes out the bottom. Don't water again until they are fairly dry/light-weight again.

Thanks, good advise

why did you tape the airholes up on the pots? I wouldn't do that personally it's for air pruning and creates a stronger root system. Just my 2 cents. your doing a good job though. Good growing

They were pots I got at a garage sale... never saw vents on the side like that, and I thought they would leak too much. They have ample drainage on the bottom, so I thought it would be alright. Do you really think I should remove it? I will be transplanting to big big pots in 2 weeks. ( no side vents there) thanks for your input... I value all advise.
