weed broke the tsx?

So i saw a FB piece that said 6 weed companies on the tsx surged so heavily in trading yesterday that they had to halt trading.

That kind of thing generally happens AFTER a big announcement. So what did i miss? I havent seen anything.

Or it happens when insider information spreads rapidly. Is that what happened here i wonder? Some industry insiders got some assurance on their lobbying efforts?

Or maybe the story i saw was just more FB bullshit clickbait?

I would post a link but my phone fucks that right up. Just google "weed broke the canadian stock market" it is a Vice article.

If I would have to guess, I would say it is click-bait. Vice has some interesting content, but even their YouTube page is littered with misleading titles.

I think it happened because tweed announced the earnings for this quarter and they announced that they ave passed 24,000 clients

I dunno... im a very experienced trader and i would think it would take a lot more than that to spike share prices as much they went up...also... it was six companies, leading me to believe that whatever happened was good for them all...

Have to dig into this....

Just found that BNN ran the story too... google "BNN canopy growth halted"

Looks like the trading wasnt all good... a couple had big gains and a couple had big losses in share price.

So i suspect a big investor pulled out of a couple and bought into others... just moving money...

Oh well, it's a start. I wonder how the stock markets are going to react to the government investigation into their questionable connection with the cannabis clinics? You know that bubble is going to burst at some point. The task force is going to be releasing their recommendations in less than 2 weeks, and it will most likely include limited home grows for rec which should take a little wind out of the LP's sails. Removing cannabis from the cdsa opens up the market to EVERYONE who wants to go into the legal cannabis industry, taking away the LP's monopoly...and hopefully their revenue.

The monopoly will not be going away any time soon, Tweed just opened up like 20,000sq ft for breeding and seed production, they plan to supply clones and seeds to home growers. That is why they have DNA on board. I am sure that other factors came into play with the 6 companies, but I do think that tweed has been leaking info slowly and that is driving them up. Like the 24,000 clients is up from 12,000 I believe, that is double.
Also I do not think that the clinics scandal will effect much, too much other good news in the mix and HC does not want a scandal

The whole DNA ownership and exclusive sales of seeds and plants will not survive the first court challenge. Most of the plant genetics were supplied by or taken from mmar growers, who owns those genetics? Are we expected to destroy our current genetics and seeds....we all know that isn't even a possibility. Once removed from the cdsa, cannabis is just a plant...nobody owns the exclusive right to it. There will be competition from micro-growers before the ink dries on the legalization laws. Lp's aren't going anywhere, but their monopoly IS, imo.

i wonder what will happen with prescribing for medical when it's legal and what will be the carry amount?
i know I can drive around with several kegs in my vehicle without being given a second look so this should be good

these canna Dr's may go out of business if we get a decent legal system.

Back when it was the transition era from mmar to mmpr, I reached out to tweed to send them genetics, I ended up speaking with Bruce Linton they sent me the info to send them genetics, they offer a % if they ever use them for any breeding, I think it was a royalty.
So anyone who sent them gear will get a cut, so as for the mmar people they are ok if they sent in gear and it gets used.

How will we ever know if it's been used? Nothing the LP's have done to date suggests they will be willing to share profits with anyone so I don't see them divulging anything without a court order. I own my plants and any seeds or clones they produce, and I'm willing to share and trade as are many more...the LP's are dreaming if they think they can own that market.

Well you could request to audit the innovatory of what you gave them if you suspected them of fraud.
Regardless it is all moot because they need to still pick the correct phenos, something that can not be done in a lab but in the real world.

At the end of the day if you are worried about your strains, reverse them, make fems and sell or give away to everyone, then it will be out there. Or if you want to make money off your gear try to aply to become a licensed breeder.

so leaf compassion dispensaries must be worth 2 billion since they have double or more members as tweed. where's the story about that? what about the online dispensary market that's 3x the size of the storefront market? seems these tweed guys are falling behind faster than they are catching up..

correct me if I'm wrong but aren't those breeder licenses just for LPs?
