Week 4 of flower, top of buds blackening and shrivelling. Also some dark residue

Hi all, found a bit of a problem with my Jock Horror's yesterday and it seems to have worsened today:
P1070155.jpgP1070157.jpgP1070158.jpgP1070160.jpgP1070164.jpgP1070165.jpgP1070167.jpgP1070169.jpg

Grown indoors in a grow tent under 600w HPS 18" from top of canopy
Temp (bottom of tent, not canopy) min/max: 7.6/25.2 Celsius
Humidity min/max: 47/96%
Watering Schedule: 1L every 2 or 3 days, just before they start to show signs of underwatering.
Soil: BioBizz Light mix
Nutes: BioBizz Grow/Bloom/Top-Max at recommended dosages, splash of cal-mag every few waterings.

As you can see the tops are turning brown and withering. They looked black under the HPS but under a different light it's more brown. One of the tops also had a clump of black fluffy residue nestling among the pistils at the very top. I realise the pistils will start to orange eventually but this definitely doesn't look healthy or natural, I hope the pictures demonstrate that!

This started happening at the same time as the copper spotting you can see on the leaves surrounding the buds and the larger leaf on its own.

I have my suspicions about what's wrong but I'll keep them to myself until after some feedback to avoid influencing anyone in their diagnosis.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Thanks so much,

I should also mention that this is localised to just the very tops of a few large buds (apart from the copper leaf spotting) but seems to be gaining traction and affecting more tops each day.

Thanks for the quick reply. What's the best way to go about correcting that? Do I cut off anything affected and try to lower the humidity?

96% humidity?? you need to seriously fix that fast. Increasing air flow, raising temperature, circulation fans, and a dehumidifier are a few ways .

Lower humidity, and as much as you're gonna hate it. You need to get rid of anything you see infected, and dig around in the rest to check for more.
Check real close wherr the buds meat stalk as this is where I have found it starts first, due to lack of air getting to them.

Ok thanks guys I'll get on that. I've got some square pots that don't quite sit properly in my round trays meaning that there's a bit of runoff just sitting around in the tent for days... don't know when I last reset the humidity meter so I'm not sure when these problems started but I'm guessing that probably has something to do with it.

Time to get the scissors out:(

Definitely get rid of the standing water. Hell, I've put pails of water in tent to raise the RH levels. So I imagine that's a lot of your problem.
You can get a small shop vac, and after they sit for a while just suck up the excess. I use a shop vac when Im changing or cleaning reses in my hydro setup.

You guys are awesome but at the same time I hate you. Taking scissors to the girls was up there with the most painful experiences of my life. Anyway I've removed all affected growth and standing water, repositioned a fan to be blowing at the tops, opened some airways and reset my humidity meter. I'll check it again tomorrow and after a watering and then pick up a dehumidifier.

Thanks for all the help! If you're interested check out my grow journal or blog for updates.

Cheers
