Regular commercial potting soil probably did not kill your plants. If you're growing inside, I wouldn't switch to organics unless you REALLY know what you're doing. Have you ever grown anything besides cannabis? All I can say is 1) learn about growing veggies or houseplants before you try to grow your smokes and 2) KISS... stick to the bare bones through your first crop at least. Buy all your supplies from Walmart or Lowes or Home Deport or whatever you have available. Don't try anything fancy until you get more experience under your belt.

unless you want your weed to smell and taste like a barnyard i would toss out that soil in the trash where it belongs
soil is just a medium where the plant grows, what makes the plant grow? NUTRIENTS! growing is easy, dont make it harder than it really is

using miracle from lowes too. doing way better than with the supposed better organic i started with. though soil is a very serious matter, it could be many things; dont rule out other causes.

Organic soil is a living thing. It is the best way to grow and it's easier than any other method IMO. It really isn't difficult.

Soil isn't just another medium its an entire ecosystem. Duplicating a plants natural growing environment in a three gallon container requires forethought and an understanding of soil biology.

MG Soil is a nice base but needs a few additions. But the MG soil with time release fertilizer should be avoided. It burns young cannabis plants much of the time.

If you're only growing a couple of plants, spend the extra $10 and get some pre-mix organic soil like Fox Farm Ocean Forest or their Happy Frog. If you're on a tight budget, Miracle Grow potting soil is a good second choice. I have a grow journal "Miracle Grow vs. Happy Frog" linked in my signature.

You yourself call it an ecosystem. Since when is any ecosystem so simple? A lot of newcomers here haven't even taken care of a Christmas cactus or bean plant.

why bother thinking things so complicated when things can be so simple as get
1.get dirt
2.put seed
3.add nutrients
if it aint fixed dont broke it:roll:
my weed is the same as your weed
it gets you high

While I'm a big fan of keeping it simple....you've taken it to a new level.
