This is kind of a weird topic but I feel someone should bring some light to it.

Has anyone ever noticed that in tv shows they rarely, if ever, close the door? I first noticed this in Full House. Every time someone opened the front door the person would walk in and the camera would follow them but no one closes the door. At first I figured it's something small and pointless like if someone sneezes or coughs theyd edit it out or re-take it. Then I thought maybe a door slamming shut would interfere with the boom mic, however, I've been seeing it in a lot of animated shows too especially South Park. I don't get it...

Again, I know this is rather unusual but you notice things like that when youre stoned. It's kind of funny, I mean I know San Fran is probably a pretty safe area to live, but not that safe to just leave your front door open all day long lol.

I definitely see what your saying with this one. To be honest, it could be one of those things in movies you just don't do or something directors have just took note to when observing movies. I'm taking filming classes right now, we go to the local theater & watch a movie once a week, critique it & find things like what you've noticed & bring light on the topic. Most times the instructor will have an answer so I might ask this... I'm almost certain it's sort of an unwritten rule to never focus on closing the door as dumb as it sounds...

EDIT: Before becoming a director you study a lot of film, it's something that would of [you'd think] have been recognized, noted, & just picked up. I'd see how far it dates back honestly, get some old movies or something together & see if they ever close doors.

@Darth, I noticed it first back in the early 2000's when I was working overnight and would watch whatever was "decent" on tv a half hour before I left for work. Unfortunately it was Full House. I guess you can say it was for nostaglia lol. Besides, have you seen "stephanies" rack lately? Holey Shit dude! Too bad my research confirmed her to be a meth head and married to a dude like as soon as she met him but thats whatever. Lucky dude.

@DaBong, Yo, First off I fucking love MK2(Mortal Kombat). Baraka was my man! That was my shit when everyone else was watching Full House hahahaha. And yes, I actually took pride in watching shows like that on Nick at Nite because it was different than what was on tv at the time. The racial stuff made me a little uneasy (growing up in a minority area)til I seen a reunion show where Sherman Hemsely said he was tired of calling his on screen "friends" honkeys. Being raised in a pretty racist environment changed me a lot. All kidding aside, shows like that really changed my mind on a lot of racial issues. I say that only because I grew up in a pretty "ghetto" area and my parents didnt get along with my friends parents because they were black, but that was the 80's for ya. You know how it is :/ Thanks for the reply. :)

@KevDank. Yes, yes I was. That's the idea because it's a marijuana forum so I figured I'd post something that I've personally noticed from the past 10 years and was just curious is anyone else noticed it. It's stupid I know lol. :) Thanks for the reply.

@SutraGrow. Thanks for the reply. This thread being as lame as it is, is still better than replying to the 14 yo's growing with bagseed, tinfoil and incadescent lights right?? LOLOLOLOL!

@LaKapitone. Hey thanks for the input, appreciate it coming from someone in the "field". By field I mean area of study. Did you ask about? I mean I'm totally sure it's just something small in TV that's just like "whatevz, no ones gonna notice dat!" But I do! It's not a big deal lol but it's weird that prior to this post I've started noticing it again.I forget which South Park Ep it was but I remember Cartman or Butters coming in the scene and not closing the door. I just see it as, if you can illustrate them breathing heavy in certain situations, or even blinking, you can take care of closing the door quick you know? Lol. I guess at the same time its something too petty for most people to notice or care about because I dont see a reply like "I know right?!" so yeah I must be the only one to notice that. Like I said before, I'm sure it's just something mediocre that shouldnt doesnt deserve the effort to make THAT believable. I'd still like to hear what your teacher has to say about it. I took a film class in Highschool and we went over things in TV like how they use glue for cereal commericals and fake food in front of the super hot bright studio lights and what not. I havent searched google about this otherwise stupid subject but being the owl that I am, I think I just might after this just to see what Google has to say lol. Thanks for the reply.

@Darth, again, I know man I've brought this up to my StarCraft people and no one else has seen it either. Now trying to scope it out to show them, I'm unlucky to find an example. Only my luck!!!!! UUGH! Lol

Commercials are awesome. Imagine if they had a network channel dedicated to commercials.. what would the commercials be? TV Shows? Blows your mind if you think about it.

Dude i would give my left nut to have commercials pushed to a channel that doesn't fuck with my shit, thank god for DVR's and the Internet! However they are even encroaching on the internet now, youtube is getting fucked over with advertisements before the videos start now and they seemed to have fixed the refresh button thing to skip the ad. Hulu has ads all over the place too as well as all the network websites like Comedy Central.com. Pisses me off man. And just as I'm typing this pandora internet radio through in a fucking subway commercial!! I even downloaded a tv show the other day and the fucker had the nerve to not edit the commercials out of it, it's an epidemic i'm telling you! Fuck Commercials!!!
