I just picked up a 400watt shop light, it is a magnetic ballest 60hz, I want to use it in my veg room, what is the best bulb to get? I seen two Eye hortalux bulbs , they have a Standerd and a Blue. the standered puts out 39,000 lumuns, and the blue puts out 29,000 lumuns. should i get high lumuns or wide specturm

First, do not concern yourself with lumens...those are human measurements, not plant. There are those that disagree, but your spectrum is more important. The Hortilux blue light has a spectrum that is good for veg and flowering. The standard bulb has a veg spectrum.
Do a little reading, see what meets your needs, and make the purchase:

You can't go wrong with Hortilux...wish you had a different ballast.
Good luck!!

I was under the impresion that Digital ballests are BAD for Eye hortalux bulbs because they have to high of HZ's and it will damage the bulb. but i see on there site it says you can use a digi.

i have never heard that before i dont think they would make them if they damaged the bulbs
the only bulb i've blown in my ballast, a digital, was an eye hortilux.. bulb was about a month or so old and it took a dump on me.. :(

Racer that had to suck!!! I bought 2 Hortilux HPS and 2 SunMaster MH both 600w...just in case LOL. Guess the bulb had a defect? I guess the e-ballast and digital ballast are the same ballast?

lol, yah, to say i was pissed is a slight understatment... i think it's the higher hertz that digital ballasts fire, but have no real evidence of this being the case obviously..
i've been using digilux and sunpulse mh's now.. sunpulse are nice imo as you can buy them in w/e k range you want, from like 4k all the way up to 10k, kind of the way cfl's work... just use the right k for w/e phase of growth you''re in.. :D

Is Digilux a C.A.P. product? I tend to stay away from C.A.P. products simply on teh sayso from 2 different hydro stores in 2 different states.

Lumens is what you should go by, we are human. What, are watts specific to plants? No. You calculate your needs by using lumens.

Any Mh light is good,i noticed that the MH loses its efficiency alot faster than HPS but they still do the best in veg.
My last 400w MH came from LUMA (illumalights) with ballast.
