what are the best cover plants for urban gardens?

Anybody growing herb in the hood? from gated communities to ghetto, what are the best cover plants for growing canna?

last summer i had some weeds that grew naturally right beside my girl that helped. i seen some pics of someones grow and they used some red plastic berries and hung them on their plants and that really camouflage the girls. my idea for this years grow is to build a 3' x 3' x 8' frame and cover it with chicken wire, have it laying long ways and hopefully once it fills in it will look like a box hedge.

how about cleome, it's an annual, grows about 3'-4'. It is topped pink or white flowers with fan leaves

Holly trees, short and bushy, but unless theyre already there, you have about 10 years to wait until theyre tall enough to block anything.
