What are the top 5 LED for a 4 x 4 on the market?

Any of the top LED's will get you where you need to be......where most people lack is their ability to manage their growing space, maintain an even canopy, be able to read their plants for ppm amounts and fert. mix, etc........ poor growers won't improve much under LED's and it may make things worse. Solid growers will improve their quality and yield by leaps and bounds. Don't spend the money until you are a successful grower.

I think most of the ones on the list, you could throw a dart and do well if you know how to train well. We even get light burn on old tech HLG 550 V2's if we're not paying attention. (Samsung 301b diodes). And it's true that 10 year warranty is a mute point. Technology is going to get better and better every year. The thing with LED's is that they last forever with no maintenance. I'd just look for the one that fits your needs the best as far as footprint, PAR, heat dispersion, and forget about warranty.

I personally like the HLG's but there is nothing wrong with any of your choices. I can say the HLG 600 Rspec kills it in a 4x4. The Diablo is nice but seems like overkill in that space. The 600 will give you more than enough power much cheaper for that square footage. Keep in mind that you can crank that 600 up full blast in flower but you don't want any plants closer than 24", just something to keep in mind.

Photontek 465W

Not worri d about warranty, and I've grown for 10+ yrs just never run leds...

I guess my question/dilemna with choosing is that, considering the 600w fits in my 4x4... When does light burn occur exactly? Over 1000ppf without co2? I'm just trying to understand. I'd love to save money if the 465 will produce as much yeild as I would dimming down the 600w. But the 600w is better spread out and still produces more ppfd at 80%. So will that better light dispersion and additional wattage/ppf/par provide a noticeable difference in harvest? Or would it be nominal and more sense to save the 150$ and go with the smaller 465w unit. I just keep telling myself I can get 150$ more in yield in one round by going with the bigger light, but I'm also use to 600w-1000w upgrade differences in hps/hid.

I'm an over thinker if you can't tell and just don't wanna regret a choice and wish I had gone with one way or the other.

Its always people that dont have a 10 year warranty that tell you....you dont need a 10 year warranty.....personally I like the peace of mind...but with that said there are lots of great lights on the market today..just make sure that they use quality diodes and drivers.I can honestly say I wont be changing tech out in 2 years....sure there may be better technology in 2 years....but I made an investment in my lights and will roll with them for at least 5 years....unless that new flux photon capacitor light becomes available.

I went through the same over thinking. The 600 in a 4x4 works amazing and I had it cranked for most of flower my last run. I can say that a run or 2 down the road you won't remember that $150.

Thank you man. I'm reading this and ordering the 600 and Not looking back. Godspeed my friend.

It seems I just needed someone to tell me I wasn't fucking up. :P
I hear you, I started a thread here after I got mine and was going through sticker shock. Don't forget if you do go HLG to use RIU10 coupon for 10% off. If it makes you feel any better I just did my first run with that light. 4 plants in a 4x4. Here is what I got. Certainly wasn't a perfect run with this being my first time using the light but it did just fine and the next run will be even better.

The 600W for sure. Light burn can happen if there is a sudden increase in light and they aren't prepared for it. Ease them into it and you will be fine. The 465W would be better for a 3x3 IMO.

At 9700+ posts in 11 years there was never a doubt in my mind you'd keep everyone posted.

Take care buddy, keep fighting the good fight!

I know but 1000 watts will melt my tiny tents :eyesmoke:

I've been using Fluence Bioengineering 2P and 2i LEDs and love them. My only frustration is that they recently had a large batch of ballast that were burning out on many people (including me). They replace all of them within 2 days but it's still a major pain in the ass when it happens. For any new lights I purchase, it will be Luxx LEDs. They cost about 15% less, have the build-in dimmer & ballast and don't have any issues with burning out. Not to mention I hear their customer service is awesome.

I just got through with a Fluence run. My 2i ballast burned out in week 6 of flower(less than 500 hours of use). Had to finish my run with my VyprX and a couple of Rays. That being said, I still pulled 26oz from a 4x4 area. Tested at 25%THC(~23% available). Also had 2.3% terpene content with a list of like 12 diff terpenes.

I've been growing with Fluence since 2018. My first purchase was the Vyprx Plus; it's been a beast for my 2x4. Now that I expanded my space, I moved to the Spydr 2i. The 2i performed remarkably before the ballast failed. It was almost four weeks to get the replacement. As a home grower, if I didn't have an extra light I'd have lost the whole crop.

I've been scouring the internet for an upgrade; Fohse seems to be the only company that's pushing the envelope. Just gotta upgrade my wallet before I upgrade my light -.-'
