What can be the cause of incredibly small buds

Hi, for many rounds I have had the problem of getting really small yields . Even the top nugs have been like a size of popcorn nugs.
I have been doing exactly the same way imo than before like I used to get good yields . Light hps 600w and 1000w in coco coir.
with Canna nutes. ph´'s and ec in check. PK and Over Drive hasn't helped.
I used to get at least 1g/watt now its like half of that.
I am wondering if calmag can cause this kind of a lock up or what. thats the only thing I have been doing imo better that I wouldn't cause calcium deficiency
my water is soft like 0.2 EC , so I have added just like about 60ml of Canna Calmag to 180 liters tanks to avoid deficiencies. Which I did have a bit before .
Now no definciencies but something is wrong even the strains have been different so for past 2 years all have been seriously smaller yields and a lot of the top nugs like popcorn size , now expansion at all....any ideas what is happening.

You running from seed ? If was clones id say sounds like a viroid with seeds it isnt impossible just alot less likely im assuming you swap bulbs often enough are all the strains u been growing from the same breeder also or ?

Seeds every time, yes been reading about that too and wondering, seeds only everytime :roll:

Expectations....


When I first encountered "Sinsemilla" in the mid-1970's, the buds were very small. The smoke was incredible. The terpenes were off the charts strong.

When I first encountered real Thai Stick, the buds were very small. It should go without saying (to anyone who was there) that Thai Stick was probably the best marijuana ever to exist on Earth!

In fact, it was quite rare to ever get any buds of size on the street.

It's normal to expect big, rock-hard rocky-dick buds, now....because that's part of what growers steered everything to back in the days when all those small-bud strains that smelled so strong, were getting growers put into prison! Growers trended everything towards big yields, instead of maintaining potency and flavor. And so now, people have come to expect big buds that you literally have to tear apart and slam into your nostrils before you'll get a vague idea of the terpene profile....and it usually turns out to be "fruity", "piney" or "gassy". ......*shrugs*

Hi ,I used to get huge yields with Dr Crippling Incredible Bulk , and now the same strain for number of times , ordered from different seed banks has produced crap yields. Did try some other like Critical +2.0 but same shit small yields , really thin and stretchy with small buds.
Its been going on for maybe 4-5 rounds , I think I did some other here in between which can't remember.
Now doing Glookies and BCN Critical XXL strains , lets see...but I can't understand what the f*** has been the reason for that plague of small tiny buds >:(

This is not from mine, this is from the net, but similar...no signs on leaves of any deficiencies .
they just stay small all the way to the end.

Ok, + the maturing. But the thing is that it doesn't expand , all of them are not that way , just too many. The same strain used to produce huge colas..
friend of mine said that many strains go weak after they been around for years. Still wondering if I haven't just realized something else..only thing was the calmag idea if npk ratio goes disturbed , but as said I am not using crazy amounts of calmag.

I’ve ran bulbs till they won’t light, regularly and usually pull better weight when bulbs get old, I personally don’t think it’s lighting, if you run from seeds I’d guess you have developed a virus somehow on your equipment, I did on trays I’d wash between rounds, took a # of years but had to throw them out as I believe I had a virus that affected things and stopped flowering properly

Thats one idea, I haven't bothered to wash my pots for years, growing in coco coir.
I used to wash them but then at some point I stopped doing it . There is so many that I just got lazy...

How are things now , are your's growing better after new equipment .
How retzilliant is that virus anyway, is it living on unwashed equipment for months :-o

Bcn critical ime does have big buds so somethings wrong if it dont turn out so tbh ive not had any issues with any seedstockers gear yet knock on wood

I use a bulb once two runs max but i use an adjustable hps so thats why though plus i do feel light intensity drops after that somewhat
