what determines type of high? what does strain determine and what does trichome color

What determines the type of high and what determines the intensity? Strain or Bud Ripeness, what determines what? I thought that the trichomes and their ripeness(bud ripeness) determined the type of high, milky white=head high, amber=couch lock, and the strain dictates ripeness meaning that you want your Sativas to have little to no amber trichomes, and your Indicas are ripe when the have amber trics, maybe 30%??? This question is more detailed than it sounds, someone got me mixed up on an earlier thread and I need some clearity on what Strain determines as far as type of high or intensity and what ripeness and its relationship to type of high and intensity. Thanks

for the most part, indica's will give that classic couch lock type of stone that most people associate with stoners... smoke some and lay around all day playing video games and eating everything in site..

sativas on the other hand are on the other end of the spectrum... very cerebral, clear headed, and motivational.. smoke some, clean the house, go out and mow the lawn, etc.. this is the type of high that i prefer as i'm lazy enough..

and the trics thing only goes so far ... while it's true that if you harvest an indica with super amber heads, you will get a super couchlock stone out of it... and if you were to harvest it earlier with say clear heads, you'd get less of a couchlock stone out of it, but it's still going to be an indica no matter when you harvest it..
same as sativa's.. if you let them go longer, you'll get more of a stone out of it instead of that clear headed sativa high, but it's not going to be the same stone as it would be if you were to be smoking a pure indica no matter when you harvest the trics.

Petty dead on.

THC = clear headed, motivational, creative
CDB/CBN = pain killer, sleepy/stoned

I take sativas well into amber so they are not too racy. I also take the indicas into amber to get the most out of the sedating effect. Genetics are first and then comes harvest timing in getting the effect you want.

I have had uppity indica and sativas that are not that energetic, so it is just a general rule about their effects being one or the other.

I think it's your brain chemistry x cannabinoid profile. That's why your favorite strain may not be the strongest imo.
