What did legalization mean for your local area?

@ProPheT 216 , good questions and post.

Legalization in Florida was very much welcomed. I got my permit to smoke, buy and carry pot legally from a doctor, via a prescription. I told the doc that my impairment was I could not sleep well at night.

The cost to buy legal outweighs the cost of growing your own in many ways. Not only is the smoke smoother and less harsh than anything I have grown, I have a choice from about a dozen or so strains I can choose from: One for the morning with coffee, another strain for mid day and a heavy laden indica for relaxing in the evening.

The guy I get my "med’s" from tells me when a new strain has come in to sell and he is trying to get rid of the old ones to make room, and is selling the older bags at a discount.

In addition, I live in a small city and we have 4 stores in town that a buyer can choose from. For me, buying legal beats the cost, effort and nuisance of being plagued by insects when I grew my own, then having to dry, age and burp the buds.

Great post and wish you prosperity.
Are you allowed to use the cost of your pot as a medical deduction for your taxes? Or better yet get reimbursed from your medical plan?

I totally get preferring buying what you need tho for myself I still want to grow particular strains to suit my particular needs. I'm cutting way back from the amount of plants to a single indoor grow during the winter months of a couple of strains. This winter is some 30:1 CBD so I can send some meds to my 96yo mother who likes the pain reduction she gets from the CBD but doesn't want any buzz from THC. Also growing a supposedly narcotic effect strain called Paonia Purple Paralyzer for my evening buzz tho I don't really have any sleep problems.

With hemp farming close by I can't grow my autos outdoors any more tho I didn't much like that as there are so many little bugs all through the buds or stuck on the resin glands it made trimming up an even bigger chore that it already is. Turns out the hemp farmers don't mind me gleaning a bunch of flower tops as they are only growing it for the fibre. I have almost a full garbage bag of tops I got recently and plan to turn that all into a RSO type product and will send a sample to a lab for testing. If there's enough CBD in that then why grow my own when I can get free stuff every fall.

Strange that you find the smoke smoother than the stuff you grew yourself. Tho I've never bought bud from the legal stores here in Alberta I've sampled many that friends have bought and found them harsher than my own but I do a prolonged dry and cure process to get really smooth, tasty nugs for smoking. Now I'm more into edibles for med use so will only want a small portion of the best colas to make into a smoke-able product for friends and the tiny bit I'll smoke late in the evening. Everything else will just be made into oil that I can use in edibles.

Growing my own is somehow just lots of good clean fun.
Very rewarding pastime and a good feeling of accomplishment when you sit around sharing the fruits of your labour with friends and family and hearing, Oh yeah man that's some good shit! :)

Even tho I often felt a little paranoid about my clandestine growing activities over the decades giving the finger to The Man more than made up for it. Now that the Forbidden Fruit feeling is greatly lessened it doesn't feel so rewarding. I'll still be exceeding my 4 plant limit when I grow so there is that. :)

@OldMedUser I've seen your avatar for several yrs and have never gotten the chance to say hi.

Anyway, I've been retired over 10 yrs and havn't paid any income tax so I cannot answer about tax's, but I'v read above another chatter answered it.

I live in a rural area of the sunshine state which gives me an advantage over others for clandestinely growing. I have half a dozen or so seeds left over from last spring's grow. Once I get them started and a month old I'll put them out to grow in the wild.

Your a good man for helping your mom, I'm sure she is grateful.

I"m not familiar with Paonia Purple Paralyzer, I'll put that on my list of goodies to look for.

Thats interesting to hear of your plan to turn that hemp into a RSO type product, I would like to hear how the lab test went.

I'll have to find out where the pot that Florida dispensaries sell is grown, Maybe it's a mental thing about thinking their smoke is less harsh then what I grow. Then again I suspect it's my way of curing,

Take care and thanks for reading my post.
