brits didnt get invaded...........
He didn't say they were invaded in WWII- he said protected.

My comment was about England's history of invaders. It will happen again. The blitz wasn't an invasion but it sure tore your country apart and if a few things hadn't happened just right during WWII - England would have been next and you know it.

very true.....

And it's laughable to think the Germans would ever have been able to invade Scotland. Even the Romans built a wall to keep us in! hehe.
There was a ship building yard in Scotland that was blitzed by the Germans or did you forget?

My reply has everything to do with what you posted, you're just too much of an indoctrinated mug to see it, blinded by your misguided patriotism to a government that couldn't give the slightest shit about you.

good little drone, well done, gold star.
My reply is still the same. What does that have to do with releasing the Lockerbie bomber? I see, all you can do is rant, not discuss.

LMAO, the Brits. Who fucking cares what they think of us? Next to the people of Brazil (ahem...Brasil), Brits are the most arrogant fucks on the planet. I do like British television though.
The majority of Americans care! It get's a lot more boring than that "say my name say my name in British" (at least say please) and that's from the adults.

OK, I'll spell it out for you. You said that releasing the lockerbie bomber shows how much the UK government cares about its people, I gave you two examples of how your government blatantly disregards the welfare of its people.

Oh, and heres another while I'm at it: Your government sent thousands of your young men to their deaths against their will in Vietnam, in the name of the "Domino Theory". By doing so the theory became a self fulfilling prophecy so all their deaths were in vain. Oh, and how does the govt. treat the veterans of that particular conflict? Yep, a govt that really cares about its people. (sarcasm)

Still has nothing to do with my comment. You just try to point the finger elsewhere.

I was just being silly!

And I didn't forget, my Nans house had a bomb land right out in front on the street (luckily she had just stepped away from the window that was blown in). And my family where building the ships. Not many shipyards in Edinburgh where done but Glasgow had a few more casualties I believe. One could certainly argue that this is far from being invaded though.

And back to the Lockerbie bomber. He was tried in The Hague (Den Haag) under Scottish law. He was held in Prison initially in The Netherlands where my brother in law who works for the SPS was over here for a 3 month stint guarding him. By all accounts he was a very polite, well mannered person.

The decision as I said before was made by the Scottish Government to many an angry voice. But at the end of the day the decision was taken because he had terminal prostate cancer and was for compassionate reasons. This had nothing to do with England, Wales or Northern Island, or the UK as a collective whole.

The post sounds like it is based almost on Capital Punishment. I am guessing people would have been happier if he was hung (even though the whole case was a bit shakey!!!) Ach, nae matter, at least someone got hung for it! Would that of helped the victims and their families? I don't think so. But then that's my view on Capital Punishment. Others believe in an eye for an eye.

I seriously doubt anyone would want to invade the UK now...what for? The great manufacturing infrastructure? the amazing transport system? the incredible health system? The only thing invading the UK is the Romanians, Poles, and the rest of Middle Earth, lol. But most of them just want to work by all accounts.

Shiiiiit, the majority of Americans don't give a fuck what the British think, is what I think. Just like the Brits don't give a rat's ass what we think of them. And unless you personally know the majority of Americans, which is over 300 million, I wouldn't rely on that statement "the majority of Americans care." I don't know anyone who gives a fuck about the British, not that we hate them, just that we could care less what they think of us.

Heck, I don't even care what Canadians think of us, much less some country across the pond who doesn't know jack shit about the individuals that live here...

One of my childhood friends mom was in Scotland as a young girl when that all went on. The stories she told they went form Ireland to Scotland and paid the price in both locations. The men in her family were shipbuilders.

Actually, you are very right. Not an invasion. They were pounding England to break her before any invasion occurred. Thank goodness Hilter only had buzz bombs otherwise it would have been all over.

Also, it's like the Brits forget that they were in Iraq and Afghanistan, too. And they are still there-covertly.

When you take time to think it is amazing what England has given the world.

You got me started. lol. I started remembering the tales of the Moors at night and the howling of the, sh*t what was the monster she claimed traveled the moors at night. She used to scare the dickens out of me.

There was good anti aircraft installations along the River Forth and generally I hear a lot of the aircraft would just go up there if they had some bombs left, and just drop a few. My Great Grandad was skinny as a rake but hammered those rivets in all day, madness. My Grandad was a Patern maker so not such hard labour I guess.

And exactly, Americans have died alongside Brits (Scots, English, Welsh, Irish, even the Dutch - rip Jeroen!) protecting the same principles I guess. Unfortunately it's just not always done in the right way.

you brits and yanks all just get used to eating with chopsticks cause we coming soon.
I am well versed in the usage of ye olde sticks, lad bring it on, I'll be waiting with ma Haggis and my "Haring met uien", lol.

what astonishes me is that you chaps say the brits are sooo pompus and arrogant and how you hate people like that and would never be like that. Then the very first thing you need to do when you get here is to go and stand outside Buckinghagm Palace in the freezing cold rain to take photos. Jesus wept
