Hey all, I am new to the forum, and I have grown twice before but with cheap flouro gro tubes from wal mart.

This time I decided to jump in and get a real set up.

I have a 400 watt MH and HPS ballast set up with a homemade cooling hood for the light that has a 4" intake and exhaust bringing cool air from the outside through the light and exhausted.

I am also going to put in a 4" exhaust in the top of the chamber with four 1-3/4" intake holes at the bottom of the chamber. I have 2 mil mylar to line the inside of my cabinet.
Here's a picutre

its not completed yet but it will be soon!

Sounds and looks good so far. Is this going to be a soil grow or hydro?
I am growing in soil. I figure I have grown in soil twice with bad lighting so i owe it to myself to go in soil with good lighting, I may eventually get adventurous and look into growing hydro....

heres an update: Got the hood vent completely hooked up, ran in the electrical, hung the mylar as best i could, now i just have to seal the doors so no light gets out but here's what i got!

kinda hard to see cuz its all shiny....but I have:

400 watt HPS in a homemade air cooled hood
general exhaust fan
Four 1 3/4" intake holes @ the bottom
2 mil mylar

stays really cool, its also in a basement so the intakes help alot!

Gonna attempt to grow those seeds from jamaica, just gonna have to do alot of training.

Haven't started germinating yet. I am going to veg in there to start then move the plants to a smaller veg cabinet that I haven't completed yet. Do you think its a bad idea to grow under MH then move under flourescent gro tubes?.

why wouldnt you stay with a M/H?
because I only have one ballast, I was going to grow 2 plants under the MH then take some clones, when they are ready to flower, put them in the other cabinet, and switch over this cabinet to the HPS for flowering. That way I can keep the mother and clones in one, then flower in the other and have a continuous cycle....
