what is the cheapest but best lighting

well first off im knew to the sight and growing for that matter. i know this is proble a popular question and im sorry if im killing anyone here. ok so im trying to grow 2 plants in my closet and i was wondering what the best and cheapest light i can get at a local store. also how many would i need. thank you for you help

CFL are pretty cheap. With 2 plants you might need 2 lights. I'm not sure, I'm new too. Just trying to help.

best bet for 2 plants without much money to invest would be CFL's at least 3 per plant, cool for veg and soft white for flower. and in the end if growing isn't for you then at least you have some spare bulbs for your house instead of an HPS or MH that you can't do anything else with. also, check the growfaq, top left corner--there's some great newbie info there.

If you're looking for cheap light that works go with CFL's (compact fluorescent lights) because they produce proficient light for your plants and are extremely cheap to buy and run because of their low wattage.
If you want lights that are great for your plant without worrying about cost go with MH (metal halide) and HPS (high pressurized sodium) because the light they produce is best for your plants but the cost for them with ballasts can cost upwards of $150.

the cheepest light you can get localy is cfls( compact florsents) you will want to get a lot of them get the6500k(kelven).( for veg) its a mesure 0of the light spectum 2700k (for flower)if you check the grow faq you can get more infomation on them.

at least a 250 hps will get you some dank stuff when it comes to flowering 6, 2ft plants

I'm pretty new, but I bought a bunch of 20 watt CFL's on sale cheap and they are worked great for seedlings/veg.

go to and look at the light section at home depo you will find a 150 hps or 150 mh

The Verdicik is out, use cheap lites you'll get cheap reef. Fact of life Come on all you
weak lite growers. All you can say is I Veged with cfls really good. Then you must grow BUDS. It won't happen unless you get proper lighting. Sorry to burst your pipe dream but its the fact, Either HPS/MH or you can try with other lighting.

get off your high horse. cfl's work fine, true not as well as hps/mh, but in some situations (small grows) they're preferred. to say that you can't grow buds with cfls is wrong, plain and simple.
