that's what we did with the CXB3590 COBs, we used more of them and also drove them at a much lower current than rated
they were rated for 140 watts and we drove them at 25 watts making it 2.95 umol/j
but all those numbers are from smart people in this forum that did all those calculations

has anyone measured the exact increase in efficiency at least in theory?

or you just say it's easy but don't have the answers?

Countless scientists, engineers and potheads, along with every diode manufacturer. It's usually in diode datasheets.

It is easy. Measure power in, light out and do the math.

Third party testing. The rest is silly drama that I could care less about. HLG screwed up by never making bar lights. GML was the head designer.

let’s see who is around in 1-5 years in led game, my guess gml is gone and hlg is still around. It was interesting when gml first was part of hlg , shoot whole time Lol, he if anything admitted he barely knew shit about led’s or lights . What his now ”grand master”. That name sours me too lol

i personally like the hlg 150-200 watt, heavy duty heat sink, 10+ Ft durable built in cord, detachable ballast. If I was redoing my whole room it would be cool instead of every 650r have 3-4 150-200’s. I realize the more connections to Ur power too

Efficiency is cool but in my opinion it’s muddying the water as far as led progression goes.

how many of you are running hella efficient lights and then throwing in supplemental UV or far reds? HLG won’t even fuck with adding Uv to the fixture because their efficiency would tank.

they know we want efficient lights and we also want these boutique spectrums. Puts them in a bad position.

You sure GML was a designer? I thought that he was just the Canada rep. I agree that HLG missed the boat not making bar lights. I think they had so much invested in board design manufacturing that they simply refused to jump ship, as they still needed to recoup on their original investment.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I heard him say that he designed the Scorpion.
