What led is best value for small grow

I know this is not the thread for it but i have a quick question. My AK-48 reg seed from nirvana seeds appears to have hermied. Coming from a rep seed bank it must be stress related right? If so should i put it outside and let it go and if i collect the seeds will they be any good or will they all be hermie too? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Hmmm, mate I know FA about breeding, but no ones answered so I'll give it a shot...females need to be pollinated by a male to produce regs...a herm will give you seeds with the herm trait? Check out guitar man, he loves herms, he removes balls and has success...

The only way to make feminized seeds is to herm, so any feminized seed has herm possibilities.

It's just how many generations of a strain have been hermed that increases the chance that a seed will produce herms. So unless you know the history of the growing habits of the seed bank don't think anyone can really answer that question... worth a shot they'd have to be pretty horrible I think to have high % rate of herms.

So your seeds will all be females with ?% of herms

Yea, I say cut the male flowers and hope for the best. There's always a chance she'll turn around and decide to sprout 100% pistils after a certain point. GL

Its funny you should say that, i knocked a couple of balls off and since the i havent seen anymore growing, just pistils growing. ill see how she goes.

Update: It looks like my ak is a girl and not hermie. She is going well now. The other one is a bag seed. It has been on 12-12 from seed. It is the same age as the ak but is showing no sign of flowering or even sex. Can any one give me any suggestion on a way i can get this one to start flowering before it takes over the cabinet.

How long have they been in flower jimjim? I havnt grown ak personally but some if my strains can take 3-weeks before flowers appear especially if their 12 from seed..they have to reach sexual maturity before they will show..they say excess nitrogen can delay the onset of flower...don't stress it bro, if there is no light leaks you just need patience....hows those home made lights working out for ya? Plants love em?

They are both around 40 days old. The AK has been under 12-12 for the last week and a half to 2 weeks. Them leds are great. I have two red:blue flood lights and another one on a heatsink. I have also put in a few 24w cfls just until my ufo arrives. I have found that they seem to like the leds better than the cfls. Im working on filling the cabinet with only led but for this time around im going to have to have a few cfls in there. I suppose what ever gets the good bud.

If i went to 14 off 10 on how would that affect the AK who is already flowering under 12-12? Would the yield be decrease or would that just increase the thc production?

Don't think.you'd be trading off too much...wouldn't be a notable difference at the end...sorry I forget to mention that one.but, yeah, definitley drop the timer ljttle..some even do 24hrs darkness for a kick start!

I looked online for quite a while and on craigs list for low cost LED's. What I found is people are selling 90 watt UFO's but they want too much for them used. I ended up buying a cheap Chinese LED on Ebay. I spent about 200 dollars and got a 300+ watt led. Its worked like a charm. Some people say the cheap ones die, I've had it running for four months no problem.

Update, it's been a little while since I have given an update but here it is. My 50w url still hasn't turned up so I have been using the 3 10w red:blue leds. I have also added 2 24w cfl's. By my calculations I am at day 67 from seed, and day 33 into flower. She is the ak48 that I thought was hermie but she is full blown fem. I'm not really too sure how much longer it has to go. There are a few amber trics but most are still clear. I'm thinking maybe 2-3 weeks. Everyone talks about the bud swelling a couple of weeks before its ready but mine hasn't done that yet. I took a couple of lower buds off, did a quick dry and it was pretty damn good considering. Does anyone have an idea of roughly how long I should wait until its finished.

JimJim can you get some natural light or flash pix? My thinking is that with the minimal amount of light you're using the plant's hormones rushed it into flower and you're a lot closer to finishing than you think. I mean sometimes you see plants do some weird shit under LEDs, you know? To me it's weird you have amber trichs but no cloudy ones or do you have some? Maybe those lights you're using have some IR output affecting the plant? IMO if you have amber trichs, you have a ripe bud, but it's not the only criteria either. You are at 100 days of 12/12 with AK48 so maybe you're there already. So try to get some natural light pix and either PM Green Santa and have him take a peek, (just tell him it's what you want for Christmas :)), or you could find the "is my bud done?" thread and post those pix there. I love the buds, Jimjim, they look like a very great-shape lady, I can smell them in front of my computer and almost sucking my computer screen for a while, can you send me 2-3 grams so that I can fill my pipes&bongs up...

Thanks for the advice FranJan. Just clarifying I'm only at day 33 of 12/12. There is just a few amber trichs at the very top of the bud but on the sides and under the bud is mostly clear. Here are a couple more pics with just normal light. I think she is going well for only 33 days of 12/12, I just don't want to rush it and pick her too early:)
