Hello fellow enthuaists, i am have some xtra monies and have decided to try my hand at growing. Here is what my planned set up is:

-i have a large fish tank which i will line the sides with tin foil (to reflect light)
- i also posess two hanging light ballasts with circular hoods (250v 660w)

the plan is to grow small plant from bagseed just to hone my skills before i invest in seeds. im going to put the hanging lights down into the tank and super crop my plant so it grows more horizontally in the tank.

Now what bulb will fit in those ballasts and will help achive my modest goal?

first off foil suk get some maylar, foil burns plants it will get off heat spots. to grow that small, go with autosflowers. this way you wont half to mess with lighting timers, 24/7 light. you will have a prob... with heat, with out exshaust fans to get the heat out.

first, tin foil is a "no no" it creates hot spots. get some mylar or something that has a flat white texture (visqueen, panda film). I think a 600 watt hid light will be to intense to hang down into a fishtank above your plant. it will most likely cause to much heat and unless you have a pretty tall fish tank your light is going to be too close to your plant if it is hanging down in the tank with the plant.. a vertical hanging hps would probably stand almost as tall as the tank itself. flourescent or compact flourescent is probably your best bet. you could use multiple bulbs and hang them closer. If you absolutely have to grow in a fish tank why not try to make a lid that doubles as a mount for your cfl's and houses the fans you will need to ventilate ( some small computer fans would probably do the trick). Instead of training it sideways have you given thought to trying the first ever fish tank scrog?! it would be the first i have seen anyways...
