What Light on Auto Flower

Which light is better to keep an auto flower plant under for the duration of the grow; MH or HPS? Since the plant will automatically flower?

MH and HPS are going to give you about the same result used separately.

The big differences come from a combination of both lights, CMH, or LED full spectrum's.

Ive never used MH so I'm going to say HPS. Ive had nothing but success using high pressure sodium bulbs.

I have both but don't want to run both at the same time so I'll be trying a MH/HPS day-to-day switch

Just get a dual spec bulb? I rate mine better then ever compared to using mh then swapping to HPS. Now I just stick to my 400w sun master dual spec.

when I used to use HID I kept my autos under MH for the first two weeks (I had 2 switchable ballasts), then flipped to HPS afterwards. I have no hard scientific data but believe this helped extend what is already a very short veg period on my plants and gave me a larger yield in the end.

I've since switched to all led and am much happier.

Hey all!~...Newb here-
I'm awaiting arrival ion some Jock Horor auto-Feminized and will grow em under a 250 watt mh/hps-switchable in an enclosed ballast.

MY QUESTION:
I've never done the "auto-flower" type. Do I begin the grow, as usual...under the MH light for about 4 weeks than-after topping. SWICH TO THE HPS and continue that for the duration-
I have read articles both ways-saying to begin with MH and switch to HPS and some that say you can grow the auto's in a total HPS light 18/6...
That doesn't sound right? I'm thinking you GOTTA kick'em to 12/12 to FLOWER.
ANY THOUGHTS...?

@hoss- Did you switch to LED's because of the heat issue? Or was there more to it?...would you share? I've got NO exp with LED.
I've heard LED's are not as good as the HPS for the flowering portion...I would think you are happy? with them?
I am planning my space to deal with heat issues-eventhough I'm not running alotta wattage.
Any help you could impart about the LED/Flowering issue will be appreciated.
Thanx

a well bred autoflower will flower under ANY light cycle. I run my lights 23.5 on .5 off. I switched to LED for several reasons. First decreased electricity consumption - I now run at 1/2 the wattage I used to use and have not sacrificed yield. Secondly the heat, I was running 2X 400w switchable ballasts and a lot of CFL side lighting. When I looked at the cost of venting and bulb replacement over three years (my leds are under a 3 year warranty) - I sold my HID and made the switch. If you're looking into LEDs do yourself a favor and research the hell out of any company you're considering. There are plenty of BS LED lights on the market (see ebay).

I use MH for veg and flower...people don't notice from my pics so everything seems to be on track ad comparable to people using HPS...the difference is I'm not risking a house fire...my HPS gets super hot...so I just quit using it...then I started to think that maybe I should use it some...and put it in, it came on and then went off but the middle part was glowing red hot even after I unplugged it...I looked that up and it says the bulb is dead...it's barely been used so perhaps it was defective, either way I see no noticeable difference between prior plants using MH for veg and HPS for flower, and using MH for veg and for flower...except I haven't had any heat stress this time around. I feel like I should replace the HPS but I don' think I will. I really like just the MH. It doesn't get as hot and my buds look just the same. Ya know they might even look a little frostier than mine usually do...not much, but a little...maybe...I'll have to stare for awhile to check...lol.

Here is one at 4 weeks flower with only MH for the whole shebangabang
