Hello everyone! This is my first thread after many years of trial and error with many hours spent here gathering wisdom. So I just wanted to say thanks to all the great people here.

Were to start I decided I wanted a to mess with some leds and build a little cab for strain testing before going into my main rooms. So far this is what iv done and to be perfectly honest big rooms are much easier to setup. Tight spaces are a pita.

Started of with an ikea pax wardrobe 23"x20"x79" Tinted the glass and foam insulated the glass door and back panel. Siliconed, panda, and foil tape.

-The cabinet is split in two Veg area is 18"x22"x25" flower area is 18"x22"x49"
-Veg 125 watt cfl 6400k
-Flower is LED ???? Thats were it gets frustrating but will get to that later.
-Circulation fans Thermaltake TT1125 120mm 60cfm cpu fans.
-Exhaust canfan 4" Thermostatically controlled inline 150-160cfm cant remember
-The cabinet is a passive intake setup so air is pulled into the flower chamber up through the veg chamber through the carbon filter and out
-For the intake filters I used G.E. hood range cabon filters and UNI air filter foam with the oil spray from Dust shroom. Does a great job of filtering and not alot of restriction and it also works great as a lightproof filter.
-La crosse wireless temp hygro with two sensors.

So the cab is ready no light leaks, great negative pressure the issue i ran into was the led I was gonna use is a chinese 480w 9 band 320 true watts and heats up the room to much. My buddy has a 300w chinese light that pulls 160 actual watts and i was able to keep temps ideal without a problem.

I would never buy a chinese anything for my grow rooms but it was given to me i figured if i could make it work id give it a shot if it didnt oh well. I did learn real quick that im not going to need that much power and just like hps the more watts the more heat.

Ok so knowing i can control 160 watt of true led power should i put that much in there?

Does area51 and bonsaiheros websites give proper light coverage numbers?

my plan is either area51 rw-150 or rw75 with some added home depot a19 cree bulbs 4 or 6 bulbs idk or is just the rw75 enough?

I dont want to overkill it if its not benificial

So what does everyone think is best?

I'd say go for two RW-75's.
IDK about that. As Puff Nuff pointed out we really don't know enough about the 150s and 75s. We need more data to tell us the intensity and fall out over various heights. Because given the data we have right now 2-75s @ 12" beat out the 150, and even the 190. Though keep in mind you won't be keeping these more than likely any closer than 15", more like 18-20" through out flowering. So kinda hard to say if 2-75s or a single 150 would be best, either way they would KILL that space, and I don't mean that in a bad way. You would want to try and either do a SOG with single colas, or a 1/2 plant SCROG. At least in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies

My main question is does area 51, hans, apachetech companies give the correct coverage area specs or is it more like hps at 50 true watts a sqft?

Ehhh.... First of all the 50w/sq isn't accurate even with a 400W because they all typically do it as 400W when a 400W HPS draws more than that. LED you need to worry about PAR, umole and other things you never thought to care about with HID lighting. IMHO a RW-150 or XGS-190 should roughly compete with a 400W HPS. Lets just put it as that.

I've been able to pull .9 grams per watt with 25 watts per square foot of quality LED's.

Ur very right iv never worried about par or umole's. Iv grown with hps so long its pretty straight forward. LED is a new world to me and im just trying to rap my head around it. I been reading like crazy and understand the efficiency, par quality differences ect. Im only struggling with the footprint. My cab is only 1.5' x 2' and I would never put a 400 watt hps in there. Iv gathered that the rw150 or sgs190 has the same intensity as a 400w hid but needs to be spread over the entire canopy to be efficient which is why most people recommend multiple panels is that a correct assumption?
