What Size Air Conditioner To Cool 1200watts?

I have a 1200watt vert setup that I am going to get an a/c for. I have about 400watts in veg as well, and with the fans and everything its probably like 2,000 watts running in there.

I hear a 1000watt HPS puts off about 4000 btu's. So if I am running 1200watts of HPS, plus fans, and lights in my veg space, how many btu's of cooling will I need?

The cab is 6'x6'x6' and is in a 11'x10'x8' room. The room stays about 10degrees above my house temps, and the cab stays about 10degrees warmer than that. I would like to cool the room about 10degrees. How many btu's do you think I need? I was looking at 10,000 btu models. Do you think this will be enough in a place with outdoor temps up in the 100s?

Thanks,
Bob

hey bob.. id say get the biggest u can afford,.. i was using 12000 then upgraded to 18000.. more then i need for 2x1000's but works out fine cos i dont need to run it at full capacity which runs ur mafuggin bill up.. i only have to run it fairly low which means that loud very churning noise (the condensor i think) that it makes wen its really sending out the cold air happens rarely..
Btw, my rooms sealed Co2, cooltubes with 800cfm thru them..if that makes a diff..
Depending on ambient temps my room usually runs at 32degrees CELCIUS and my AC brings it into 27-29 very easily

Thanks for the reply.

I'm still kind of contemplating getting an a/c unit or getting some cool tubes for my lights. I was thinking the a/c unit woud bring the temps down more than air cooling the lights. My cab was at 99 degrees when I came home tonight. I have never had it get that high. I have been working with the same setup for the past 8months to a year and never had this problem. Well at least not this bad.

I am hoping that moving my fan that exhausts the entire bedroom will help to cool the room down. And I am going to duct my central a/c straight into the cab. If that doesn't bring them down, then I am going to get the a/c or air cool the lights.

I had an air cooled reflector in my old cab. I could let the plants touch the glass without burning. I guess I may try that first. I plan on water cooling it here soon enough, so I would need the cool tubes anyway. How many degrees do you think I could drop the temps in the cab and the room if I used a cool tube with like 450cfm and exhausted it all outside? Do you think I could keep the room at ambient temp? That would keep my cab like 10 degrees above the temps of my apt and I can handle that. Right now it is like 25degrees warmer in the cab than my house.

Any reasons for that number or did it just sound good? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'd just like to know where you got that number from.
