yea brother, definetly over thinking this. :?

Right now i got 12, 3 gal growbags under my 1000 hps. I get a oz per plant but that is def not good enough for me. thats not even a lb a light, i can do better.. im gonna go with the 7 gal pots, probably 6 under hps.
I tried five girls per 1kw light in 7 gallons and they crowded each other out after stretch and yield suffered. I did better on yield with four plants than five per 1kw. Just food for thought. And if you haven't bought containers yet, I can promise you that you won't be disappointed if you go with 10's instead. More root mass = more buds. Good luck, brother.

Me too. Except I use five gal plastic kitchen garbage "cans". Same reason, tho--round containers take up too much space. Square or rectangular footprints dont waste ANY space because you can set them right beside each other.

If I used five gal round buckets, two is all I can REALLY fit under my 600w. HPS. But with the rectangular garbage containers, I can get 4.

I mean, OK, you can squeeze 4 buckets in, but the outside edges of all four plants dont get under the light. Make sense?

In a five gal you can easily grow a plant that finishes at 4-5 feet tall.

I start mine in 12 oz. Solo cups from Walmart then move them to the big container when they're 8-10 inches tall.

BTW, I grow Hempy style.

Hempy style has no place in this forum. As KK keeps pointing out to people, this is for super soil.

The #10 pots = 7 US Liquid gallons. I'm using 7 gallon pails. Same size as a standard 5 gallon, but a bit taller is all.

Depends on the pot manufacturer. My 7's and 10's hold 7 and 10 liquid gallons worth of soil respectively. They are the Premium Nursery Pots from Sunlight Supply. Only the bigger ones hold their true value though, I believe starting with the 5's.

Really? I had no idea. Good to know.

SubCool uses #10 pots that hold 7 liquid gallons I've read.

Yep low boy nursery pots I like the wide root base and the low profile.
Marked #10 but actually holds 7 gallons of water you can sit a 5 gallon bucket inside one with ease.
Leave more room for plants :)
