First of all mind your own business.
secondly,I never said I was running the other light,I just got it so that I can run it in the future and it fits in my 4 foot long tent just fine.
The tent is 5 feet high and 2 feet wide.
why are you concerning yourself with my post.
If you want to suggest something to this person and add your own opinion as to what you feel in your opinoin is the best thing for him to do then go ahead and do so then let that person make their own choice on what they would like to do.
In my opinion 400w is plenty of light if he wants to go with a 3 foot by 3 foot tent.
you have your own opinoin on what he should do but stay out of my post asshole.
Hey dude, thanks for posting what I have already told him.
Please go back and read past postings for this thread and try giving a different opinion as to what someone else has already posted.
Thank-you
shut-up cry baby.
go whine somewhere else.
I can post when and where I want
sooo why are you telling other people what to do?

Well,I already posted it so why would you fill a post with what has already been said.
How about because when someone asks a question and they get the same answer from different people this tends to allow the person asking the question to make their decision with confidence. If 50 peeople reply saying A and 5 people reply saying B, the answers indicate that A is a very viable answer to the question, with B being not quite so viable.

Have you never heard of the term "the general concensus"? Without multiple people agreeing on something, there can be no general concensus. It becomes just one persons opinion among 100 different opinions. But for some absolutely unfathomable reason you are getting upset that someone agrees with your thinking. Is your desire really to have me post something contradicting you instead?

Thank you guys for the info. I believe I will go with a 3x3
Good choice. I run a similar size to Mr. 2Shims' at 2' X 3'. The 400w works fine with good heat extraction. Moved to LED this summer because of summer heat issues.

That extra foot at 3'X3' should give you plenty of space for your plants. I ran four 5 gallon Geopots and one 3 gallon on my last grow (2 month veg), plenty of room. Good luck.

what sort of venting system do you have/are you using?

You can hurt your plants pretty bad with too much light - not to mention the heat produced from it. Most of the suggestions in this thread are solid. Like I said, I have a 3'x3' tent with a 600, I vent directly outside, and have no problem with temps or fresh air flow.

If you have to vent inside for whatever reason, and use an AC, or even open window to get/release air, then maybe a bigger, hotter, light isn't the answer.

But I would still probably get a bigger tent, for future upgrades. It's nice to have all that room if you can fit it somewhere.

Goodluck mate!

I think in the end, when you compare lumen output, prices (upfront & running), cooling, and longevity (you being satisfied) - a 600hps inside a 4'x4' tent would be a pretty good setup IMO.

remember with a 600, you get almost twice the lumens, for only 50% more watts.

mr2shim knows his stuff. i would be honor'd for him to help me on my threads. good luck with your grow. i suggested getting something bigger because this is an addictive hobby and i had buyers remorse after i got my 400 watt and ended up sending it back to get a 1000w and then another 600 then a 450 watt t5ho 8 bulb for a 4x4 tent lol. the only bad thing about the t5s though is i have to LST into bushes mostly now due to light penetration. i want to get another 1000 watt and move my 600w back into my 4x4 but then i dont know what to do with my t5's cept maybe a clone cab or something im not sure.
