That's kindof like showing up at university and asking a professor "how do I build a bridge?"...

Ya gotta do a little reading, dude. We can't just tell you how to grow herb in one post.

Give us a little more information and maybe we can actually give you some advice.

Whats's it growing in?
How old is it?
Does it look healthy?

Oh, and YES, one plant will certainly smell when it's flowering. If you still live with your parents, they WILL smell it... HA!

If it only has its first two leaves, don't give it anything for another couple weeks or so.

What kind of light is it under? How big is the pot?

What is "regular potting soil"? Not all "regular potting soils" are created equal. Some have time release synthetic nutrients (Miracle Grow --- BAD) and some have rich organic goodies like guano, kelp, bone meal, worm castings, etc (Fox Farms, Roots Organic, Vermi Blend, and others --- GOOD).

That just depends what's in your "regular potting soil". That's why I asked what kind of "regular potting soil" it was. Some can sustain a plant for a while, others have no nutrition, in which case the plants will fizzle out pretty quickly.

If you're really just wanting to play around with it, you could use some things you might have around the house. For example, a couple spoonfuls of used coffee grounds scratched into the soil surface will supply some nitrogen. Not the route I would take, but it might help keep them alive a little longer.

As you are probably aware, there's a 50/50 chance your plant is male, in which case it is junk anyway.

best organics you can use are from poop, so clean a fish tank and use the water and dirt and grime you get from the tank and put it in you plants soil. This will help as a ripening formula in budstage as well
