What wattage for my plant

Hey guys, I just joined and am a new member. I also started growing and this is my first grow. Im growing a northern light x big bud plant 100% indica in my closet. It is a weak set up but I think it is good enough and I am not looking for a professional set up. I have a 13 watt fluorescent light buld. I know its not a lot and I am going to buy a stronger lamp, but the problem is I have no clue how much wattage I need. The seeds were feminized autoflowering seeds so the plant needs light 20 hours a day throughout vegetative and flowering stage. It has to be a fluorescent light so please give me the best advice you can. If you got any other tips and notes for a new grower please feel free to share. Also my plant is already a week old, how often should I water it. Ive read that a lot of noobs kill the plant by overwatering it so ive been taking it easy like once every 2 days is that not enough?

thanks

i'm gonna do an afgan kush ryder, and la diva auto under 420 watts of cfl(10 42 watt bulbs) you can get then at home depot 65k for veg 27k 4 flower.(my 65k 42 watts i had to order online) With the light you have now your looking at 3 months of work to smoke a couple of joints.

Watts isn't the thing you should be measuring. What you should be worried about is the lumens. You're going to want more then just one 13w cfl that gives off probably like 900 lumens. Try getting a couple more lamps with 42 watt bulbs in them and place them just like an inch away from the plant. You can never have too much light! Just to give you a sense of where a 13w cfl stands in comparison to the sun; the sun gives off roughly 10,000 lumens per sq ft. So try and add a bunch more bulbs

Yea, at the very least you're going to want 23-26w per bulb. Those give off around 1600 lumens. There's a sticky somewhere (I think it's actually the first sticky in the forum), but the general rule for CFLs is 100 watts per plant and 50 additional watts per additional plant. Another "rule" is you want to follow is 6000-8000 lumens per sq. feet. Keep in mind though that more watts=more heat. As can keep your grow area around 75-80F, add as much light as you can.

Oh and as far as watering, I water when the top 2 inches of soil are bone dry and water until I get a little of run off just to be sure it's watered thoroughly. Typically this happens around 2-3 days.
