i just had an idea... i was reading about how to force your plant to show sex without flowering and came across the ol' bag on the branch trick. what would happen if you were to let your plant grow to whatever size you desire to flower at but instead starting the entire plant on 12/12 starting just the top half of the plant on 12/12 and keep the bottom half on a reg 18/6 veg cycle.... assuming that you could seal the light enough to keep the cycles entirely seperate on either half of the plant. would the top half flower while the remaining plant continues a regular vegetative cycle. if this is the case would you then be ab le to flower the same plant numerous times while repeating this process over and over? i may do a bagseed grow of experiment just to see what happens...



and no, i dont care taht you think this is a stupid idea so if you do move on and keep your mouth closed. this is just an idea i had i am in no way saying this is better than any other way of growing or anything else.

Not sure if it would work or not, but where have you been reading how to sex without flowering?

i just searched a bunch on google on how to tell the sex of marijuana plants and a few things like that popped up saying that you can cover a branch with an opaque bag of some kind and remove and replace it on a 12/12 cycle and it will show sex while the rest of the plant continues its veg satge like normal and then you just revert taht branch back to veg when you are done and harvest the particular branch a little after you harvest the rest of the plant due to it being behind because of the needed time to revert to veg stage, cant remember what the actual article was called, im pretty stoned...



i definitely think this experiment would be worth trying.....

makes me wonder if the entire plant will only convert to flowering stage if a certain % of the plant is on the flower cycle. say you cover 30% to flower and the remaining 70% still vegs but then you cover 70% and the remaining 30% also converts to flowering because the majority of the plant is in that stage.

yeah it would require daily attention unless i could rig a setup where i grow the plant somewhat tall in veg and build a totally seperate compartment for the entire top half of the plant. i wonder if it would just stress the plant too much though, it might get really confused and turn hermie or something! that would suck but at least i would be using a bagseed and not anything worth a damn. i may try this when i run out of good seeds, that will be a while but someone is welcome to try it out for me. i would even help draw up plans for a box and how to set up the lighting fo each section...

They can pre flower, which is a good thing, means you're making them happy and that they're sexually mature.

yeah could do something like that....

im not talking about just preflowering them, im talking about actually flower all the way through til harvest while keepig part of the plant in a veg state to see what happens...

A: will the whole plant flower or just the portion under flower cycle?

B: will the whole plant continue its veg and ignore the flowering completely?

C: will the plant flower its top half while the bottom remains in veg?

that is the first question i want answered, then we will be able to tell if this is worth researching further with such things as

A: will we be able to take clones from the veg half of the plant while budding the top?

B: will we be able to keep the veg half alive after we harvest the top?

C: how does this affect thc production given the stress on the plant?
