what would you sell weed for? to a friend?

I've never sold to a "friend"... like life long, gone through tough times together, "friend".. but have one that would like me to start to supply him. I currently grow enough for the house only, and while I wanna hook a buddy up...I am going to upgrade to hook him up.. and I wanna be fair...

What do you guys charge your brethren for like either a half or full ounce?

I have some top end strains and while I know I would be able to drop this for $300 a zip... what do you hook a bud up for?

smoke all day for free,but to take home, half price,i mean it aint free and they arent going to bail you out you know.

i've got a couple of friends that i hook up for nothing. they might go through a 1/4 oz or so every other month or so, so i don't feel like they are taking advantage but if they were smoking that a week it would be full price.

yah, i have no probs hooking a buddy up for free so long as we are talking quarters or so, anymore than that, and they are paying half price of what everyone else would pay..

I give away much of my excess to friends, but lights, electricity, nutes - that all cost $$.

I'd charge him 60% of what i could flip it for quickly if i were growing it, especially for fire, maybe cheaper for mids.

Ya know, I've been thinking about this question for a bit now and I'd have to say it would depend on the friend's financial situation. If money is no thing, then the going rate. If they are in need then maybe what they can afford or is reasonable. If they are in dire times and seriously need it, then it's free. Everyone knows their close peep's situations. Peace. =)

I'll hook someone up til they pass out at my pad ( I could hang with snoop for a day or two I think) BUT supplying someone I would just give it to is hard to figure... but another vote for half price.. thanks... that's what I needed to get a feel for +

And I totally feel what you're saying too.. my first reaction was.. ya... sure.. $300 an ounce... but this is honestly a good buddy and I WANT to be good to him... so I am fighting natural instinct and think I'm going to go $80 -1/2 ounce.

that's my dilemma.. I have to expand to be able to supply him, so I will have all kinds of expense to cover to help a friend out without cutting into my own supply and leaving me short... how do you compensate for that?

I'd make sure he's not just gonna go flip this and make 275 bucks off your kindness. May have to sit down and have a talk with him.

Just sit down with him and negotiate, he may even front some advance cash to upgrade your grow.

that's about what I'm going for.. compensate the extra expense for the hook up to work out over time for him... thanks for the input..

I know his situation.. same as all of ours.. it sucks. What do you consider "reasonable" for GOOD mid- high grade? Violator kush, red diesel, bubba kush, strawberry cough...I'd sell a half ounce to you (let's say) for $150 and you'd thank me where I'm at right now. I would love to just give the shit away.. but I can't afford to do that.. and with the way life goes.. I need the extra cash to make ends meet myself. I just don't want to be "business" with my buddy, and I don't know what's customary for the friends and family discount.

I'd turn to my friend and say, "This aight no soup kitchen!" Then add $50 bucks to my cost or throw him an 1/8 for slanging the rest of the ounce and getting you all the money.

^^^ I like the way harvey thinks. Maybe just set a baseline of your costs, plus what's worth your time. Then ask your friend what he was thinking of doing and let the negotiations proceed lol. I know you wanna help your bro out, and that's cool but always keep business, business. =)

I do too.. and I wouldn't even second guess myself.. but a fellow grower and I had the conversation about what was fair... and her idea and mine were two different things... so I thought I would come out here and ask. I am trying to rep those who posted.. pm me if u haven't gotten it yet.. except GWN... I can't ... too much rep passed already.

To me hooking a friend up is like $120 half $220 os, that would be top grade. That's basically giving pound prices for o deals, thats a steal in my book

for my friends, i wouldn't sell it retail, i'd give it "at cost". anything i get for a friend, i don't profit on.

Okay, what about this - I have a good friend, also my connection, he buys by the pound sells to me full price. Now, I am growing and will be supplying him. He sold 3/4 lb so he could keep 1/4 lb free, no cost to his pocket, sold at 400 oz. no breaks. What do I charge him?

(My other partner, big dave in cali, gives it to me at cost, sometimes below frigging cost, known him since we were like 5, he doesn't grow, just knows ALOT of quite large growers outdoors killer looks like indoors for 200) arcata tw/bb cross, stuff like that

I only grow in a 3x3 space and the strain I have left to clone takes 12 weeks to finish. Those things considered, for those I am closer to or have a great deal of respect for I let go of quarters for $90 and full grams for $15. I try to give away lesser amounts here and there and smoke people up without obligating that they throw in or compensate me in any way.

It might make you feel warm and fuzzy to give away some of that top quality herbal delight, but you've got to realize how things could play out otherwise. Not only are there costs associated with what we do (both in time and money), chances are that you and me have some of the best smoke available if not the best. Commercial growers are all too often unscrupulous in whatever manner; whether they use toxic chemicals on their plants, in or around their growing areas or utilize other methods that are less than sound. They harvest as early as possible, dry the buds as quickly as possible without curing and even knock all of the trichomes off. Then the buds travel god knows how far and the end consumer could ultimately wind up paying $20 for a gram of sub-par.

I don't have many friends. So they get high for free.

More than one of my "good buddies" used to ask for "samples to go" because they were temporarilly out.
Had some not too familiar aquaintances come right up to me in public places and ask, "Man, Smoked some bud with XXXXX he got from you. That's some good shit you're growing. Could I buy some from you? Awe, come-on man, hook me up?"

Well,, good buddy(s) are in the same boat as anyone now. (means nada!)
Went through a year of bumming from them when I saw them after that and explained I quit growing because of security issues with neigbors and such.
Now, the only ones that know are the wife and dogs (and they're not tellin' ).
