what would you use hydrogen peroxide for?

i heard something about hydrogen peroxide getting oxygen to the roots. whats the reason youd do this , are there benefits in regular growing or does it fix some sort of plant sickness?

it kills micro organisms and in the process it releases an o2 in to the water which is good for roots.
Pro: sterilize medium & add oxygen to the root zone
con: kills beneficial organisms and destroys organic fertilizer

so is it something people do on a regular basis. how much do you use . i mean if it brings o2 to the roots thats gotta be good , thats why people grow hydro right? oxygen to the roots doubles growth speed

In hydro it kills all the beneficial organisms. Not good! I would not recomend the stuff for growing. You can use it to sterilize and clean if you develope problems. Its good to clean hydroton and reservoirs as long as you wear gloves and follow directions. A bubbler is better to get air to the roots!

Is it ok to use hydrogen peroxide at 17.5% strength in soil?
And if I add it with nutes in my water tank will it kill the nutes?

GrowTech

stays relevant.
a bubbler is a system that uses an air pump, and air stone to deliver air bubbles to the root system of a plant, generally used in DWC systems... an airstone in a soil application would not work as the weight of the soil is higher than the pressure of the air sent through an airstone... just wouldn't work well...

It's absolutely for hydro.

This is interesting, i have never heard of using hydrogen peroxide for growing, its some i will never do, but it goes to show you can learn new things every day.

As posted, it will kill any micro-organisms in your soil, or fertilizers if you're going organic. And you sure don't want to use it at 17.5% strength without diluting it. It would most likely start smoking as it did its magic. Why do you want to use it?

I used it when my plants had some root rot. I put a couple tsp into the reservoir and within a couple days, the rot went away. I immediately flushed the plants and put the regular nutes back in. I dont know why you would want to use it everyday in the system but it def helps with root problems. Hope this info helped. Peace

Keep burninnnnngggg!!!:weed:bongsmilie

I've used it on EVERY grow I've ever done. I use the regular 3% stuff from the pharmacy. 1/8 cup to every gallon of water. That's just what I do, NEVER had any problems what-so-ever with "nutelock" or anything like that. It will add O2 to your grow medium and that has to be good for the roots. Like i said, I never had a problem using it.

I add it to my res. about an hour before flushing and changing the nute solution. It helps loosen the buildup on my airstones for easier cleaning.

ive heard that hydrogen peroxide breaks down into plain water in something like 4 hours after you add it to water. anyone else heard this?

hyrdrogen perexide is a liquid compound and connot be simply turn into water, it only becomes deluted, but im sure after a while the peroxide does lose a few elements. But only becomes something else.

think about what you just said...hydrogen peroxide is h202, thats two hydrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms. if the stuff oxygenates your water one would be led to guess the the element it loses would be oxygen. whats left?...h2o...water. so if it becomes something else it has to be water. im no chemist, but it makes sense to me. anyone that cant prove me right or wrong? if im wrong i want to know.

I know how to find out, lets get some water and find out, who wants to drink it. lol. But i see where your coming from but every response needs a stimulas, and i cant think of any reason that h2O2 would magicly drop the extra oxygen atom. Im no chemist either but im just being sceptic of that idea. lol

Id like to use it to introduce more oxygen content to the roots & to prevent root rot. Ill definetly be adding it to water before pouring it in soil. Al B fuct highly recommends it as it has given him great results (but at 50% strength in hydro) but what about soil?

not an agruement, a debate. how do you figure the roots get the oxygen then. they dont absorb the h2o2 to get the oxygen do they? straight h2o2 will burn the roots so i would think they dont use it as is. i dont know this for fact, i wish someone who did could clarify.

So the stuff you buy at the local store is 3% h2o2 and some other stuff. I think the other stuff is for ph buffer and and it has some thing to keep the h2o2 stable so when you purchase it you do not just purchase water.

If you had 100% pure h2o2 and it lost its extra o it would be drinkable, in theory,
