I prefer HID lamps (MH & HPS) personally, but there's a lot to take into consideration.

What size space are you running in? What's the temperature and humidity in the area in which you'll be growing? Do you have means to keep a reasonably consistent humidity? Can you cool the area adequately (HID lamps put off a lot of heat)?

If that's the case, a 600W HID air-cooled lamp with a good carbon filter and inline exhaust fan would be perfect, but I'd go with a 1000W system in case you ever up size.

Most HID kits will come with an air-cooled hood, dimmable ballast and both MH and HPS bulbs.

I’m actually getting out of HPS lighting as it simply runs hotter than I can handle in my tent and bedroom. It’s definitely something you should consider.

Here’s the brand I went with. Timber builds high quality lights that would rock a 4x4.

I've got a Phantom ballast for my 1000W, and I use iPower ballasts for my 600W and 400W lamps.

I use Hortilux for bulbs, and keep the ones that came with the original kits as emergency spares.

i have a Phantom 600 watt and a Phantom 1000 watt. I swear my old 600 watt ballast was putting out RF interference before it crapped out, so I upgraded to Phantom.

Eye Hortilux for my 1000 watt bulb....I use cheap ipower bulbs for veg

If you’re struggling with a couple of models, start a conversation with Dan at Timber. He can explain the differences and there is no sales pressure. @RainDan can also hook you up with a discount.

I would look at the true wattage from the wall when comparing models. It gets really confusing with all of the claims.

Thanks for the help hey where do you buy your strains at and if you have any seeds I can buy lmk
I have an entire HID system I’d sell you.....but no beans. I personally like Nirvana seeds But there’s nothing exotic about their strains. They take credit cards, they germinate well, good delivery and great prices. If you wait for a sale, you can get 5 beans for 21 dollars. I’m growing the Original Glue now. Tangie , BlackJack, ICE also get great reviews. Check out their site. They are in Amsterdam, so delivery takes about 3 weeks.

Check out Budget LED. They are out of Michigan. I have 2 of their 250 watt xl series 3 rspecs in my 4x4. These lights are fantastic.

reedwood vs or the hlg 550 v2 Rspec I know this is gonna be hard both are getting good reviews it’s for my 4x4 tent. I know it would be able to build both by kits but I’m looking for plug and play. I might buy both and see which would be better for a 4x4 flower.
