Well, not a good update. Thought I had this coco crap
Figured out and look what happened . In just 12 hrs. They were fine last night and this morning they look like this. Only thing that I changed was my PPM last night . I went from 575 to 675. Do you think this is nute burn or something else ? I’m using GH bloom, 13ml, GH micro, 5 ml and 10 ml of calmag. My PPM was 679 to be exact. What do you all think . Flush the shit out of them with maybe 500 ppm and PH 5.8? Every single one of them look like this now . 2E3F7D5B-7A72-4727-B782-97408865D55D.jpeg 4FB10ECF-4954-4984-A934-B36389FEA610.jpeg B91DEE9C-291B-4A77-9266-8B40BE7AF8A7.jpeg

Man, that coco always looks so difficult to me. Those plants look burnt to me. I don't see how you can feed coco all the time and not get salt build up. With Pro Mix I always went feed water water. I'm having a brain fade but isn't 10 ml cal mag a lot?

Yep it was definitely Nute burn. I’m following a feeding schedule by someone else who kills it feeding like this. What happened was my PPM said 679. What I did was didn’t see the little symbol that said x10. I was over feeding them a shit load ! So, I spent three hrs flushing them all and then giving them a small feeding at 350 ppm. I made sure it was 350 too. Hopefully this does the trick.

I've never hit even 2000ppm you're trying to tell us you hit 6790 PPM? Well that would sure do that damage overnight! Maybe you should reconsider how & what you're feeding because the 10x function era aside that's ridiculous!

As mentioned above by myself and others your newts seemed really out of balance and I think you've proved they are, stop trying to follow some other likely more experienced grower and start simple, use a common product in a prescribed manner and put bud in the jar instead of what's going on, just my opinion good luck

Figured out I read how much calmag I was supposed to use too. This is my first coco grow so I’m adding Calmag, where I never have before using organic home made super soil where it had all the crap I needed in it. I completely screwed the pooch on how much calmag I was supposed to use. I thought it read 2.5 ml per gallon of water when it was actually 2.5 per 5 gallons of water, or .6 ml per gallon of water. This has definitely been a learning experience but I’m gonna keep doing it. When I didn’t over feed they grew super fast like I’ve never seen before. So, I’m gonna get a new EC/PPM pen first off, get the cal mag situation back to the normal amount, and slowly bump the food up to 650 ppm and see how they do. I would think that shouldn’t be too much, as they are almost 2 ft tall now. I’ll post an update in about a week and let you all know how they’re doing. Thanks for all the help, and thanks 70’s for questioning the calmag. I wouldn’t have noticed I was giving them too much of that either if you didn’t say anything .

Shit happens, its a mistake im damn sure not going to make again ey! Glad your sticking with it. Coco is a great medium when you grasp the few basic rules.

Ouch

I use Gen Hydro 3 part Flora series in coco. Unless you are at the end of Bloom you need Grow. Use their DTW table recommendations: http://gh.growgh.com/docs/Feedcharts/GH_FloraSeries-DTW_03216am.pdf

I've found them accurate. I fill my res leaving some head space, mix my nutrients, and then add tap water until I get the ppm reading I want. Usually around 900-950 in 5-7 week flower. My tap water is 250 ppm so that works out to be between 650-700 in nutrients. So I'm using their ratios not tds which are a tad high.

I only use the 3 part, CaliMagic (at 5ml/gallon) and which ever Silica product is cheapest. I pH everything to 5.8 and I flush with my tap water every two weeks because my coco gets a bit dry in between daily feedings and I want to rinse off the dried on nutrient salts. Plants don't catch every ion poured through them so it helps to just water them heavily once every 2 weeks. Others don't do this and have no problem.

Hth and I'm sorry about the mistake that had to hurt.

Good update this time . After flushing and giving them a lower feeding, they are doing great. Now I’m battling the cold temps and super low humidity. My room is at 74 with a RH of 43. I’d like to be a little higher than that but it seems to be ok. The green crack is getting huge . Pretty cool for being an auto . My ppm is at 500 now and im going to slowly go up a little more till about 650 , and might just keep it there. That is if that’s good enough for them. I’m using flora nova bloom and just a little bit of the grow, along with Recharge with every watering, which I really like. It has a ton of stuff in it that if I bought seperate, I’d be spending a lot of money. Anyhow, hope they keep going strong now that I’m not giving them 3X the amount of food. 5AD3C985-5F64-492D-8A2E-01764BDC6BD9.jpeg FAE84F0A-BF8C-4741-B5E3-34057B8A3020.jpeg B46BB1A1-7441-453B-B46B-252612129D9B.jpeg 130537BC-D6E1-450F-BC63-522E44574B2F.jpeg 55769654-482C-4236-963C-BB800F300DF5.jpeg

Well, some plants have recovered and are thriving while others still have this rust looking crap going on. Mostly the ones I’m growing in lucky dog. I’ve been giving them calmag with every watering , and feeding every other watering. Idk what the hell os up with them anymore . Anyhow, the ones in coco are doing great. I am definitely sticking coco and rockwool at the same time but not using lucky dog at the same time. With the rockwool and coco I can keep them at the same PH and feed schedule while the lucky dog I would have to work a little more on. 057EFF4A-BF83-41F4-8032-27A6ACFA4879.jpeg 4B8D8675-91AA-442B-99A9-FA84F023702C.jpeg D675C1BA-FD97-450C-93A0-C2C555BC5A6E.jpeg

Is this normal ? I’ve never had this happen before . This green crack autoflower is taking FOREVER to change. It’s like it started flowering and just stopping doing it’s thing. The first two pics are of the same cola almost three weeks apart. It looks almost identical. And then the last two pics is one of the top of the plant and one of the lower colas. The lower cola looks bigger than the very main top cola. Light stress? 75 degree temps, 45-50 RH, 1.3-1.4 EC. 18 and 6 light schedule. Plant looks healthy with no sign of any problems. Today is day 60 from the time it came out. It measures 51 inches tall this morning. The plant right next to it is a GSC and it’s doing the same exact thing. It’s actually a little taller. View attachment 4284896 Is this normal? That top cola just looks odd doesn’t it? I’m running timber grow lights redwood over them with no reflectors at about 12 inches. I moved it up to 18 inches this morning and turned it down a little too. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. 1209B6D1-E6D0-4505-B7F3-219464FC62AC.jpeg B0D0CC7A-BD74-4249-A3E8-1A376BC6E496.jpeg 1209B6D1-E6D0-4505-B7F3-219464FC62AC.jpeg 16BFDF35-8DBB-418C-B175-2F6DBD915743.jpeg Top cola looks like too much light or not enough ? 12 inches at full power though makes me think way too much .16BFDF35-8DBB-418C-B175-2F6DBD915743.jpeg

Just some pointers from someone using coco...

Start your small plants in small pots when you can. I realize you're running autos and the idea is not to transplant them if it's not necessary, but a coco grown plant doesn't mind cramped quarters. In fact they do better this way and there's less of a chance of 'over watering'. 3' to 4' plants can be easily grown, with great success, in 1 gallons pots. Bigger is not always better.

With that being said, you can and should feed your coco grown plants every day, if not multiple times per day. This is the advantage of coco and it's the advantage you as the grower should exploit. Straight, 100% coco is fine (it's what I use), though some will add perlite; it's your choice, but for me it's unnecessary. (When I have seedlings, they get watered 1 time per day...when I find their pots getting lighter from feed to feed, I up their feed amount and start them on twice a day feeding...and it remains this way until they're harvested.)

Don't try and reinvent the wheel by using the latest and greatest nutrient offerings from Joe Bob's Garden Supply...'automatic this', 'super duper that', 'biggest buds ever', 'automatic pH', blah, blah, blah...there are very simple products on the market that yield awesome results without all the mumbo jumbo horse shit. KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid (I'm not calling you stupid btw)

Feeding to runoff, while ideal, is not necessary, nor is it a deal breaker. If you're a salty feeder, you're a salty feeder...your plant will reflect this, no matter how much runoff you're getting. If you're not over doing it nutrient wise, regardless of run off, your plant will be fine.

Keep your pH @ 5.8 and let it naturally swing to 6.1 or so...this ensures your plant is getting the full spectrum of nutrients available to the plant.

Ca and Mg are needed more in a coco grow than other types of grows, because of coco's ability to hold onto Ca and Mg. I add these two components separately, in other words I don't use CalMag, I use Epsom Salt for my Mg input and Calcium Nitrate for my Ca input. This keeps me from adding both elements when I may only need one of them, thus minimizing the chance of locking out nutrients because I added something I didn't need. For sure though, Ca and Mg are your friend in this type of grow.

Don't ever feed with plain water...always be sure your water has some % of feed in it.

Don't let your coco dry out....ever.

FYI...Your budding plants and the super slow growth, in the last couple pics might suggest a light leak or an ill working timer. Just food for thought.

Hope some of this helps. Good luck friend.
