what's up with radically different prices between seed banks?

i'm seeing some radically different prices between seed banks for the same strains as in $50 or more difference! i know when i ordered my pack of serious seeds' kali mist for about $100 years ago at gypsy, it was selling for something like $180 or even more elsewhere. i just popped back into their site specifically because they're one of the few places you can get tom hill seeds and his is supposed top be one of the best hazes, and see many of the strains i was looking at at attitude are MUCH cheaper there eg. old timer's haze at $83 vs $138 at attitude while their chimera C+ is $20 more than the same seeds at hempdepot.

what's going on? is there some serious markup going on with certain strains from certain seedbanks or do some breeders have closer relationships with certain banks, or are low prices an indication of old stock waiting to get unloaded? are some breeders pissed off at certain banks and charging them more?

$50 is NOT the kind of swing in prices you should expect for a pack of seeds. $10? sure, even $20, but $50

buddha's sister by some is an EXTREME case of WTF?! a 10 pack of those is $243 at attitude now (up from $187 just a few weeks ago), but MARKED DOWN from half that at $93 to $67 at gypsy! has gypsy turned into marc emory and a scam site now? i've always had good dealings with them in the past if not their old system that refused to let me update my address without creating new accounts.

$176 is an INSANE difference in price (or even amount for a pack of seeds should even sell for to begin with) for what should be the same gear in theory... not simply insane... fuckin' doggie's nuts!

anyone know what's going on between these banks and others that charge different prices between each other?

the hell i would ever pay more than $80 on seeds. if your paying $100 for seeds anywhere, they had better be feminized and legit to name. Last time i got seeds from Janes Strains and i paid $210, but you know what i got? 50 feminized chrystal seeds. Thats only $4.20 (LOL) per seed.....So from that viewpoint, i would say do your shopping and buy in bulk. you can find good shit and save money.

$50 is my comfort zone for seeds, even if it's just a 5 pack, but would stretch my budget up to $150 for something as "essential" for me and my tastes as DJ shorts' purple and grape flavored grape krush or ace's oldtimer's (purple) haze as both strains offer highly desirable qualities other breeders aren't offering. it's the law of supply and demand, it's up to the consumer to decide how much they want to spend, but there's no way you have to spend over $50 for world class gear with any kind of buzz under the sun. once seeds start getting over $10 a piece in 10 packs, i start thinking of the breeder as a greedy bastid. greed ruins everything it touches as far as i'm concerned. weed and seeds should be free and grown everywhere in a perfect world.

given the choice, i'd rather get regular seeds than fems mostly because i like to breed, but also because of the potential for hermies in fems and the perception at least that they're inferior to regs, but some of the best stuff i've smoked so far has been DNA fems.

i'm just trying to figure out why the buddha's sister, an "essential strain" for me for the flavor as i don't care for blueberry, or most berries and fruits in general, is selling for under $70 at gypsy's and almost $250 now at attitude. it makes me think either gypsy is baiting and switching, or attitude is ripping people off big time unless someone has a better explanation. most of the time, the same seeds are within $10 of each other between banks. more than three times the price between 2 locations just makes me think someone's up to something one way or the other. maybe attitude is just charging that much because they can. it makes me want to bargain hunt more in the future if they are though

I'd rather buy one seed at a time of different strains. You get to check out more that way.

I just paid what? about 25 dollars for 1 moby dick seed, that's 250 if you bought 10 seeds that way. But if it's a female and I like it I can clone it forever, or breed it to something else, if it's a male.

So, unless you have trouble germinating seeds. And I've found most seed will pop from most vendors if you know how to do it. Even at 25 dollars a seed, I don't see it as a bad deal. As long as you get something you like :)

but $180 difference for supposedly the same exact seeds and quantity? something doesn't add up, i mean literally mathematically.

The prices are based on what the seed bank thinks we will pay for them. Compare TGA on attitude to say Hemp Depot, huge difference but Subcool isnt making more from one or the other. Its called GREED.....

A lot of people specifically buy non feminized seeds to pheno hunt. You're kind of cheating yourself buying a single seed unless feminized in my opinion.

Are you trying to make your opinion a fact or is there information to back your claim? Do you actually know what Attitude pays Subcool vs Hemp Depot or just making a blind assumption? Seriously curious. Some companies place bigger orders giving them price breaks therefore allowing them to offer product at lower prices then the competition. Not in all cases but always something to consider when shopping around.

Also, Attitude is in the UK where as Hemp Depot is just above us in Canada. It costs more to get seeds to them from breeders and then back to us here in the states from the UK.

I don't think it always comes down to greed. That's the the first thing people assume sometimes.

attitude and gypsy are both based in the UK, and if any bank orders in quantity, you'd think it'd be the biggest one. if nothing else, they could order the beans from their competitors if they're paying more for them.

I've been told by breeders seedbanks set prices ..I asked this question directly ...booms111 is right ..also when a product is out if stock doesn't matter if the breeders wants to restock its up to the seedbank ..that's why u see certain strains at certain banks

Yes i have FACTS to back up my claim. If you were a WEED NERD and watched Subs show he has stated that he has No control over what Attitude charges and that he gets same amount for his gear. Wouldnt you think out of all the companys Attitude would buy the biggest orders making there prices cheaper but thats not the case.
