Whats wrong with my babies?

These 2 plants are about 5-6 weeks old. The other day my cfl lights fell and were resting on the plants for a while. There was significant light damage. When i got home from work that same day the leaves looked much worse. The bottom leaves are in the worst condition which makes me think its not only a light burn problem but something more serious.

Im growing in a mix of organic potting soil and vermiculite
- x2 27watt cfl daylight 5500k spectrum
- I made cardboard reflectors and painted them satin white
- I first used nutes yesterday (miracle grow 24-8-16 1/4 strength)
- I added a co2 distributor set up with yeast and sugar

Im thinking its some sort of a deficiency but i want a professional answer

any ideas?

first of all those plants look small has hell for 6 weeks you need much more light!!!. Dont put vermiculite in with your soil your supposed to use perlite. those plants look like shit i would put them outside or just kill them!!!

more lights i would say like 4 CFLs a plant loool (from experience) ... and your plants look burned flush em

umm that was terrible advice. just kill them? id rather try and help them first before i just give up.there small because i was trying to grow them with sunlight but i didnt realize that the sun was only out for 12 hours a day and i over watered them. I have 56 watts in 1 square foot of space that should be enough light. I dont think its the lights.


cheeeky what watt cfls did you have when you used 4 of them? cause i read that 50 watts per square foot was the ideal amount of lights, but maybe more would be better? I flushed them today and have been spraying the leaves for extra foliage moisture

when in doubt flush them out, it looks like nute burn

lol if you want to help them out kill them!!! lol look man in all seriousness flush the soil with ph"ed water i mean really flush it. then transplant into better soil. dont ever use vermiculite again!!! perlte is what you need. verm will absorb water fucking with the soils drainage. so flush and repot and get some more ligt 56 watts wont get you far. has a matter of fact its gotten you has far has 56 watts can. you need atleast 70 watts per sq. foot.

you need to get rid of that miracle grow infested with non organic materials you call a NUTE...for a professional answer..if you want to veg a plant use a cooler kelvin (blue) spectrum for 18/6 then when you think SHE is ready to go flower you can change your lighting schedule to 12/12 with those cfls with the daylight spectrum..you will have much better results within 6 weeks (if thats accurate). I personally would start over, those are most likely to be male due to the stress its undergone. GL and keep reading, this site is better than any of those books you could buy at B&N.

Spend the money and get a 400W HPS. You'll get more lumens for your money than 1200W of CFLs.

Also, using CO2 really isn't going to help with the minimal amount of light you are giving them (assuming proper airflow).

not true. i use vermaculite, perlite, sphagnom pete moss, pro mix and worm castings....theres nothing wrong with using vermaculite.

i've burned my plants or watered them and transplanted 3 times if i get more then half males i'll probably eat the plants outta anger looooooooooooooooooooooooooooool ...

I agree with the CO2 being useless for you but I disagree with HPS lighting for veg. I veg with CFL's and T5"s and flower with HPS. You can get some nice plants with cfl's'

Oh ya my soil mix also has perilite and vermiculite in it.

i have never heard of verm. in a soil mix

When on a budget, a HPS can put out some good results in veg, but HPS is optimal for flowering. I have used HPS from veg to flower a couple times before. It depends on how many plants you are growing, but def a must for flowering.

verm isnt bad for soil whatsoever. If you knew anything about verm, such as its a mineral and minerals dont absorb water. Vermiculite is actually used (and it says this on the package)(Sta-Green Horticulture Vermiculite)for reducing soil compaction, helps improve soil aeration and drainage,Use as a soil additive to loosen heavy soils to provide for better root development.

Sounds pretty good to me

verm would be best for a hard ground soil....perlite works much better with a bag soil...both work just fine and serve a significant purpose in aerating soil...
