What's wrong with my Sativa?

jk, no trichomes, but she doing well. thanks again guys. should i tie her up at some point? wondering if the flowers are going to be too heavy for the stems to support themselves

some of the thinner blades I have seen in a minute..

That's an interesting plant, definitely Sativa heavy, those fan leaves are super thin. You have a great attitude about this, and I appreciate that. Tying up anything that seems too heavy might be a good idea, and so might pinching and bending the tall stems down, though it might be too late for that now, and you're maybe not ready for putting your girls in bondage yet. String coming down from up high tied to the branches that seem too heavy is a good way to keep them up, or use bamboo sticks they have at the garden section of your favorite store, even a tomato cage can work pretty well. Have fun! I love growing these plants.

Thank you so much, man! I love this forum. Always such nice members. Yeah, it's in my closet, so i could use string from the top clothes hanger area. i'll continue to update if you guys are interested.

Is that a bad thing? I've noticed that throughout the entire grow. It was just a bag seed that looked healthy. This thing vegged reallllllyyy fast. Now really slow flowering, ofc. Thank you for the input brotha man!


One more thing. It definitely seems nute burnt. Is there a way to get away from the time released nutes that are in it? Flush it? :/ I wonder if that's the problem. I don't really want to transplant it again. I feel so dumb for using those nutrients, lol.

I'll take better pictures tonight when it's lights on for her. About 5 hours. Thank all of you for your support.

Thinner fan leaves are a Sativa dominant trait, nothing wrong, just a very Sati girl.

You aren't using sufficient lighting and it is too late to transplant after flower. After week 3 of flower all root growth slows to a near halt to divert energy to forming flowers. You need to use this experience and overhaul your set up

There are over 100 watts of lighting and I legitimately just finished an Indica strain. It flew through vegg and flowering. Was easy. I realize that more light is better, but it's been working well for 0 dollars spent, other than $10/month in electricity. I think i've done pretty well for what i've used and money invested, considering this is my second plant. I transplanted 4 days ago and she's BOOMIN now. I'll take pictures tonight when it's lights on. I fell asleep last night. Thank you for the reply man!

One thing i've noticed during these two grows is that they're actually very resilient. I had a stem break during the late part of vegging on my Indica and just propped her arm up with string/stakes and it was amazing how fast she healed. That Indica is actually my profile picture here, hahah.

Hey guys. Decided to update the pictures. I am assuming this is nute burn? I flushed with probably 10 gallons of water recently to try to correct the issue. About 2 days ago. Anyone have any idea of what else i can do? This is the only plant i'm allowed to keep, so i'd like to get the most outta her. Here are the pics..

First 3 pics for diagnostics, last one so you can see where and how it's being grown. You'll see i had to put a bar on the lamp to hold the top cola up. That things getting heavy and it doesn't look anywhere near done.

I agree it's not the best plan, but you CAN transplant after flower. I had to do it. I just waited till they were dry and pulled whole ball out. Gently crumbled the edges and put them in larger pots, with fresh soil on bottom and fill around. I lost a couple of leaves on each plant but they are doing fine now.

I have a long running Sativa also. She looks a lot like yours, but larger. I underestimated the stretch. But healthy. I have heard Haze strains can go way over 100 days.

Yep. She's a bit burned. The trouble with time release fertilizer is that when you flush you may actually be releasing more nutrients into the soil. Lesson learned, I'm sure.

Sativa varieties generally don't like very much food, and when they are unhappy it's so much more obvious than an indica dominant variety.

Just keep her moving along. Don't rush the harvest, by the time she's ready I bet she'll look ugly with lots of burned leaves and dead leaves too, but your buds should still look good and smoke nice too. Wait for that amber to show up. I've got a girl who takes 16 weeks to ripen and I'll tell you , it's worth the wait!

This is a great learning experience for you. I ran through a half a pack of a sativa blend before I figured out how Sativa leaning plants like to grow. At least yours was a freebie

It really kicks longer flowering plants into high gear and helps shorten flowering time. Some people speculate that this technique leads to loss of yield but I disagree. I run mostly Sativa blends currently at 10/14 all the way and still pull down good yields. Just a trick of the trade that might help you.

Wow! Thank you so much for this reply, friend! Great information. Yeah, that's what i was worried about when I was flushing her recently was that the time released nutes would actually do more damage than help. You said to just keep her going as is? Shouldn't move her again, should I?
I have been very surprised by how long this plant has taken, but it's been a lot of fun. Learned a lot and yes, free is so much better when you're learning hahaha.

When do you suggest I switch the lighting down from 12/12 to 10/14? I read a little about that and am very happy you brought that up. Cheers!

Personally, I would probably just leave her in the pot she's in now. As others have stated earlier there isn't much root growth going on now so no sense in transplanting and adding even more stress.

If you want to go big league, and have some extra cash, a ppm meter would help in this situation. You would ideally flush and read the runoff ppm (amount of salts suspended in the runoff solution) and just keep flushing(slowly) until your runoff is no longer full of salts. At that point you could assume that the soil is no longer charged with the time release stuff.

If this is not an option for you then I'd just ride it out and give her lots of love. Make sure to check your pH every watering because you are at a higher risk for nutrient lockout at this point.

Are you using a timer? If so, just add 15 minutes of darkness every few days until you have reached your desired day to night ratio. I would start soon as in nature she would be experiencing slowly shortening day light hours at this point in her life cycle.


Isn't growing fun!? As long as you keep your great attitude and don't get cocky the sky is the limit. There are lots of good growers on here and most of them are friendly.

Awesome! Thanks brotha man. I appreciate it. I have 2 timers, but haven't used them because i've been being lazy and didn't wanna hook it up lol. Right now, lights go on at 12am and off at 12pm.

I'll start 15 minutes more darkness/few days. Wonderful advice. I've tried to replicate nature as much as possible. I'll msg you if anything comes up man.. and i'll continue to update this page as well with pictures n stuff as it gets closer to harvest. I'd never ask for advice like i have and leave you guys high n dry on the results.

Hey guys, here's a little update.. Currently in the process of switching her to 10/14. I feel like this plant should start goin HAM soon, because it's been soooo slow. Like day 60ish of flowering. Here are the pics. Had to tie up the top cola to keep it from breaking, it's really heavy.

Any advice is very appreciated it. She has been being flushed too. Trying to get those time released nutes outta here!

Well, all things considered you are doing well. The burn doesn't seem to have progressed so that's a good sign!

She also looks to be swelling up as well.

Yeah, was pretty happy the burn didn't get worse. Hoping she starts to move faster. There are very few trichomes, as far as i can tell..

Also, meant to ask you.. What are your thoughts on water curing? I've been reading about it, it seems awesome.

At least she made it into flowering. few more weeks and she'll produce more flowers for sure.

Depending how much Sativa she is it can take a while Neville's Haze can go over 16 weeks flowering and still ain't pure sativa.

The lighting ain't very good so that can make her take longer. But overall she looks fine for bag seed sativa unless it's actually a hybrid.
