Hey Guys,

I've seen a few people write on here that Soma does great seeds...but people say stay clear of his fem's. Putting in an order with Soma today, anyone enlighten me as to why I should avoid his fem seeds? Thanks for any pointers. :-)

soma prefers to use roderlization to make his fem'ed seeds instead of the introduction like collodial sliver like most breeders do..
roderlization is soma's own term, and basically is the process of allowing a plant to flower for extended periods of time, and they instinctively throw a late hermie, and he uses the pollen from the late hermie to make his fem'ed seeds..
i've never really heard anyone say stay away from soma's fem's though tbh..

Thanks racer. I'm no expert, done cheese grows recently but want to bring some better strains in. Soma's Lavender and NY Diesel look awesome. i always thought it was the best option to get fem's to avoid herm's?

making fem's so long as you start out with stable genetics is no more prone to hermies than if you were to use regular seeds.. :D

Just don't use Fems for breeding; clone from them or smoke them. Same w/ Autos. If you want to breed, have the patience for reg seeds.

Some people think fem plants are more likely to go hermie than conventionally bred ones.

Personally, I don't believe this to be true.

I also don't think culling males is a big deal, though it might be if you are working in a really tiny setup with only the ability to grow one plant at a time.

As mentioned, Soma makes his fem seeds via a process called "Rodelization" where he lets plants go past their maturity date until they naturally go hermie, then uses the pollen created from those hermies to create feminized beans. Again, some might say that deliberately selecting FOR hermie parents this way might impart a tendency in the offspring to go hermie. This seems a little bit more plausible to me than feminized ceeds created by chemical intervention.

In any case, the biggest problem I see with Soma's beans is that they'll break your wallet. But they may be worth it. . .that's up to you to decide. I can't recall ever hearing anything bad about Soma Lavender or NYC Diesel.

Ive grown Lavender, Buddas Sister and Amnesia Haze. The AH was dissapointing, Lav was exotic but lacked punch and BS was my fav of the three and was considering popping the rest of the pack. No herms and all sprouted. What are you ordering?
