When buying HPS does brand matter?

Is an agromax 400w hps any different than any other brand 400w hps? I feel like it's just a brand name thing...

Also another question... do you guys think that a dimmable ballast with 600w hps bulb is a better option than getting stuck with a 400w ballast/bulb?

This way I could turn the ballast to 75% if I want to run the 600w like a 400w (technically 450w). Sound like a better plan than a 400w ballast and 400w bulb?

Do more research.......there's a ton of difference i.e. lumen amount, light "color", price, magnetic vs. digital compatability, warranty, lumen reduction over time, resistance to bumbs and shocks, import vs. American made, etc. Also, expensive doesn't necessary mean better with bulbs.

400 watts suck........ They are barely enough to flower 1-2 plants tops. I own them and they are boxed up and put away. A total waste of money. But it all really depends on the grow room size. I imagine in a very small room they are perfect.

55,000 lumens is enough light for alot more then 1-2 plants lol

-I just wanna know if all 400w hps bulbs have the same lumen output, and if agromax is any better than a generic brand bulb.
and
-I just wanna know if a dimmable 600w will have any disadvantage

I can flower 3 plants inside my closet just fine under my 400w. Rock hard nugs and I got almost a half pound. I had 3 good size plants in my closet and it did great.

wow it amazes me what people say on here sometimes. im flowering 20 plants SOG style with my 400 watter. it dosent matter the wattage as long as you have the right spectrum and you apply 50 watts per sq foot. check out my grow journal that i just started, its my first dwc under a 400w hps.

i have heard that the digilux gave the worst results from a very experienced grower. remember this is what i heard so i dont know if its true but he said he used one and ended up with the worst results of his life using it and hes been growing nearly a decade

WOW!! i have a 10 day old plant that is already 12 inches tall under 400w hps SERIOUSLY man wtfe as long as you have 50 watts per sq ft and you keep that 400 watter 18 inches above your tops it will do just fine. you were either growing bullshit genetics or something must have been wrong

you can see how much more white the hortillux is. its an awesome bulb but if you can get a digital ballast get a digital bulb that can pump the red up

brb? and watch the reflection on the hood at the top, they move the camera down later so you dont make as much a judgement i think they noticed that would make it a little biased but you can clearly see in the hoods reflection (dont listen to the brightness comparisons they dont really mean shit since Hort bulbs put out eh broadest spectrum of most bulbs) that the digi is much redder
